community because it will educate our students, faculty, and staff on issues of social justice and what
privilege/oppression feels/looks like. ECU has marginalized students on this campus who have experienced
institutional oppression as well as micro-aggressions in their everyday lives. The Tunnel of Oppression serves
to educate students on what institutional oppression/micro-aggressions are and how to speak up against them
and stand up for what is right, even when it goes against status quo, which most times it does. This year’s
Tunnel of Oppression will be focused on topics of racism, homophobia, body image/sexism, and Islamophobia.
February 9th: THY WILL BE DONE: A TRANSEXUAL WOMEN’S JOURNEY THROUGH FAMILY AND FAITH  5:30PM in
Hendrix Theatre
The LGBT Resource Office presents a screening of the acclaimed, THY WILL BE DONE: A TRANSSEXUAL
WOMAN’S JOURNEY THROUGH FAMILY AND FAITH. Thy Will Be Done highlights that point of tension where
gender, family relationships, and faith intersect. At issue is the organized church, with all its political and financial power,
as one of the fiercest battlegrounds for LGBT rights and gender recognition. Sara Herwig actively seeks not only to
participate in the Ministry as an openly transgender person, but as an activist she seeks to transform a world – spiritual
and otherwise – that operates by conventional notions of sex and gender. Sara’s journey weaves an absorbing story of
struggle, hope, and the celebration of the human spirit.
