Your heart is a muscle about the size of your fist. Compare it to other muscles. Can you control it like you do the muscles in your arms or legs? Can you exercise it like you do other muscles? Why or why not? 2. Exercise isn’t the only way to keep the heart healthy. Brainstorm a list of ways to keep the cardiovascular system in tiptop shape. What can happen if this system becomes unhealthy? The cardiovascular system interacts with other body systems as it circulates blood. Discuss the nature of these interactions. What happens if another system isn’t working properly? Can the cardiovascular system still do its job? CT: Students create a play based on their cardiac disorder-write and direct a 4 minute play in which you act out the responsibilities of the cardiovascular system; include a brief description of your disease, and during the play make sure you include the heart, blood and blood vessels and any other organs that may be involved (you MUST mention these items to receive full credit!!). Use paper and art supplies as needed, and then perform your play for your class. You will be required to turn in a script that details the parts of your play so that it can be distributed to your class to use as notes. Each group is REQUIRED to answer at least 2 questions pertaining to your play, so make sure you know your stuff!! HW: Work on plays -Thursday BR: Get into groups of four assigned by teacher; you will be given cards that have the steps of blood flow through the heart and your group will need to try to put them in order (without using notes or books!)
