SCRIPTURE READING
“How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ,

Why Jesus (the Only Way To Heaven) is God
“You are from below; I am from above. You are of this
world; I am not of this world. I told you that you
would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I
am he you will die in your sins,” John 8:23-24.
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God
spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last
days he has spoken to us by his Son,” Hebrews 1:1-2.
• Jesus never comes out and explains the tri-unity (or Trinitarian nature) of God.
• Why do Christians confess the Trinity/Deity of Jesus?
• Why is Jesus the only way for anyone to get to heaven?
“We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.

Some Clear Statements on Deity
• “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we
have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace
and truth,” John 1:1&14.
• Paul says, “I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ
for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are
Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the
giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the
patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is
God over all, blessed forever. Amen,” Romans 9:3-5.
• “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the
end,” Revelation 22:13.
• “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,
training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live selfcontrolled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our
blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus
Christ,” Titus 2:11-13.
Things That’d Make Jesus
a Lunatic (or much Worse) if He’s NOT God
• “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he
will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh,”
John 6:51.
• “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall
he live,” John 11:25.
• “And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the
roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on
which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic,
“Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some of the scribes were sitting there,
questioning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak like that? He is
blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” And immediately Jesus,
perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them,
"Why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the
paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk'? But
that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he
said to the paralytic—“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home,” Mark
2:4-11.

worshipped on earth:
– Matthew 2:11. In His house when
the wise men finally found Him.

who’d been excommunicated: “Do
you believe in the Son of Man?” He
answered, "And who is he, sir, that
I may believe in him?” Jesus said to
him, “You have seen him, and it is
he who is speaking to you.” He
said, “Lord, I believe,” and he
worshiped him. Jesus said:

Some Clear Statements on Exclusivity
• “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me,” John 14:6.
• “There is one God, and there is one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus,” 1 Timothy 2:5.
• “This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders,
which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in
no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given
among men by which we must be saved,” Acts 4:11-12.
• “God…commands all people everywhere to repent, because
he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in
righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this
he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead,”
Acts 17:30-31.
“The sting of death is sin,
and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God,
who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ,” 1 Corinthians 15:56-57.
The Trilema
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the
really foolish thing that people often say about
Him: “I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral
teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.”
That is the one thing we must not say. A man
who said the sort of things Jesus said would not
be a great moral teacher. He would either be a
lunatic — on a level with the man who says he
is a poached egg — or else he would be the
Devil of Hell. You must make your choice.
Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or
else a madman or something worse. You can
shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and
kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet
and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come
with any patronizing nonsense about His being a
great human teacher. He has not left that open to
us. He did not intend to.”

People who don’t love Jesus are not
enraptured by Him.
– You were made to be in awe of Him

Hell is just because men prefer anything
over Him.
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and

Immanuel” (which means, God with us),”

I assure you that they do call Him that. He
is “God.” Who do you say that He is?
