SUPPLY DEPARTMENT: If you need to be refitted for your uniform, the Supply Officer will make the appropriate arrangements. Also, for those of you who have uniforms to turn in, pea coats to give back or have any questions about uniform matters you may address them with supply. We do not have a lot of time until summer approaches and cadets are off to advanced trainings so take care of uniform matters now. Do not let improper planning on your end constitute emergency on our hand, ask questions now. 2. TRAINING DEPARTMENT CORNER. Recruit training is right around the corner, take the time to work on your Basic Military Requirements, which is required to be complete for your participation in boot camp. Any questions please see the training department for clarification and guidance. As always, all cadets are reminded to bring your coursework that you are currently working on. There is ample time to devote to this during drill. This work is to help you succeed and progress through the ranks. Your success in this program relies on your devotion and dedication. 1) All cadets that are going to Chicago for RT (names will be provided) are to report to a classroom for "pre-Recruit training" 2) All cadets going to RT (other than Chicago) will report to one of the classrooms for BMR training/PQS. 3. Those Cadets who are waiting for their ID cards before being able to go to Summer Training (list will be provided by SEPCOR) will be pulled out individually on Saturday morning to get their picture taken and issuance of their ID card. They will then report to the Training Officers (ie., INST Brenda McCain or INST Billy Coleman) to finish up their Summer Training Orders. 3. SAFETY NOTE. Learn from others mistakes; don’t have others learn from you. 4. SWEEPERS NOTE: Clean up at the end of drill consist of vacuuming, wiping down all common areas, taking out the trash and any other task deemed necessary by the LPO. NAVAL HISTORY ON THIS DAY: May 15 1775 - Benedict Arnold captures British sloop and renames her Enterprise, first of many famous ships with that name 1798 - Appointment of Benjamin Stoddert as first Secretary of the Navy 1969 - Launch of Apollo 10, dress rehearsal for first lunar landing mission. CDR John W. Young, USN, was the Command Module Pilot and CDR Eugene A. Cernan, USN, was the Lunar Module Pilot. During the 8 Day mission, the craft made 31 lunar orbits in 61.6 hours. Recovery was by HS-4 helicopters from USS Princeton (LPH-5). 7. COAST GUARD HISTORY ON THIS DAY: May 18 1920-Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel were granted the same pay, allowances and increases as the Navy.
