SITI NORAISYAH BT MAHIDIN A143614 HHHC9601 RW On 6th April 2014, we held a program called “Light Up Autism Run” in Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur. I was involved in Exco Multimedia, as the Penolong Ketua Exco in team of 10. This program is held in order to celebrate autistic children and to gain fund for Makmal Pembelajaran Autisme UKM. I chose to write about this program because I think I gained more experience through this program than other programs, especially about leadership and teamwork. When I first signed up for this program, I never thought it would be really big and I can proudly say it is a success and I am very happy to be part of this program. But success has never came easy. Although I only involved in only one aspect in the program, we also face some hardships in the process. Ketua Exco Aisyah Som and I were in-charge in editing and designing for the program. At first, we brainstormed the theme together, came up with our own logo designs and also took considerations the opinion the rest of the members. Someone suggested that we combine our logos and the result was the best thing ever, the Majlis Tertinggi approved our logo and it became the official logo. I felt really proud at that time because one of work is being recognized, and will be seen, not only by UKM but also by the public. That, of course only happened because of teamwork and because of that, we found our team dynamics and it turned out that we both love graphic designs. My dear friend Aisyah Som is also proud of our work and she was also happy to collaborate with me. A few months after that, shortly before the day of the event, someone saw PERMATA new logo that uses our logo in it. Aisyah and I felt very furious and outraged about it. How could they have used our logo without asking our permissions. We were perfectly aware that we were just ordinary students but still they should have a sense about copyright. Even if we are not professional designers, I am sure they have a team of professional designers that have a degree in multimedia and should know about copyright thingy. But we have let bygones be bygones. I have discussed this matter with Aisyah and she also felt the same with me. We were just first year students and does not really have any power so since we have not much to do about it, we just let it go. This was a charity run, so I guess there is no wrong in turning our work into charity too. On the day of the event, each of us has to become a photographer. Since Aisyah Som has taken care of the whole designs for the program, so I took care of another aspect of our job scope which is photography. I thought that if I want everything to be perfect and smooth on that day, I should have prepped my soldiers early for that so that we will look like professionals. I knew a little bit about photography because my brother-in-law worked as a part-time photographer. So, I decided to take on my role as Penolong Ketua Exco and call up the team for a meeting to teach them the way around a DSLR camera. I was a bit afraid if they would not show up but it turned out that they all came and I felt glad and thankful because they were also willing to learn from me. I am no professionals but my intention was that I hope I can at least teach them what I know and we can actually learn new things, apart from medicine. I was sure they also glad to gain new experiences because some of them has never knew what a DSLR is and now she can use one by herself. I was not much of leader material but I think I handled this matter quite nicely. And on the day of the event, I split them onto a few groups because the run route is quite large, so I thought that I must put some of us here and there, in order to get shots from every possible points in the route. They followed my orders quite nicely. I believe so because I gathered the photos after the run, and I get what I hoped for. I felt proud of my team that day. I think we have shown a good teamwork throughout the program, starting from the planning until the day of the event. I am also proud of myself. I think that I have unleashed the leadership in me. SITI NORAISYAH BT MAHIDIN A143614 HHHC9601 RW As a conclusion, through this program I learnt the true value of teamwork and leadership, as much as friendship. Because of this program, we find our dynamics and our relationship became closer, not only as course mates. Although there were some glitches here and there, but I think we did fine because we have tried the best we could. Also, because of this program I feel more confident, and I am now one of the members in the College Student’s Executive Council and I will work harder for the students’ charity.
