Unit Review
Springboard – Unit One
Take a look
Look at your scores for your unit assessment. To
find your score out of 100, take the top number
and bottom number and times it by 2.
Example: 42/50 = 84/100
Don’t like it?
You have the opportunity to make test
corrections! For each answer you correct, you
can earn one point extra credit.
Just like last year, you must respond
appropriately to receive the credit.
You must explain your original thought and new
rationale. How did you come up with the correct
answer?
Example
Read the sentence from the passage.
For the next ten minutes, John tried his best to
return his grandmother’s lightning-fast serve.
What is the MOST accurate connotation of
“lightning-fast” as used in this sentence?
Is this an appropriate response?
The correct answer is D, powerful
No
You did not complete
a rationale.
You would not receive
an extra credit point.
Is this correct?
The correct answer is D, powerful. My first
answer was A.
No
Even though you told
the original answer,
you did not include a
rationale.
You would not receive
an extra credit point.
Is this correct?
The correct answer is D, powerful. Originally I
put A, speedy, because I thought lightning – fast
meant speedy.
No
You did not complete a
rationale. You did attempt a
rationale but did not explain
your thoughts in depth.
You would not receive an
extra credit point.
Is this correct?
The correct answer is D, powerful. I selected my
original answer, B, speedy, because I thought
lighting fast meant speedy. After reviewing the
question, it asked for the connotative meaning,
which is the implied meaning, not a synonym. The
connotation of the word “lightning-fast” implies
that John’s grandmother’s serve, like lightning, is
so powerful and so fast that it appears suddenly
and is difficult to return.
Yes!
You stated why you selected
original answer and
completed a rationale.
You would earn one point
of extra credit!
Reflection
An important aspect of growing as a learner is to
reflect on where you have been, what you have
accomplished, what helped you to learn, and
how you will apply your new knowledge in the
future. Use the following questions to guide your
thinking and to identify evidence of your
learning. Use separate notebook paper.
Where does this go?
Turn to page 102 in your springboard book.
On a separate sheet of paper, respond to
questions 1, 2, 3, 4 – C.
