Reflective Overview
I get five songs which about political, the first song K. Richards’ Jagger, Barry McGuire’s
Eve of Destruction, KRS-One’s Sound Of Da Police, Nas’s Black President, and Ice Cube’s
Amerikkka’s Most Wanted. In my soundtrack, the first song I choice was K. Richards’ Jagger，
from the words of song, I can feel the disappointment from the singer, the singer was
disappointment about the society, and the relationship between the people and people. In the
Barry McGuire’s Eve of Destruction, the writer told to me about the people protest in order to
pass the bill, but the senator didn’t passed it, the people’s protest didn’t work. I feel the angry
from the song, and the writer want to destruction about any barrier about legislation. The
writer was liberal because he wants to change something about the government, and he
thought this was the eve of revolution. The third and fourth song I choose both talk about the
discrimination, they are KRS-One’s Sound Of Da Police and Ice Cube’s Amerikkka’s Most
Wanted. I felt the singer’s angry from these two songs, because they never stop talking about
black faced the kinds of discrimination from the police, and other people who work for
government. The black was seemed as the nasty and full of violence, they was the root of
criminal. The discrimination was a serious question of the American society. So how to deal
with discrimination and how to make the true free for black in political was the America need
face. My fifth song was Nas’s Black President. In the songs, the writer first talked about the
discrimination which the black people faced in the history, in this part, the singer full of the

angry. At next part, the song was full of happy because there are the first black people who be
president, which means the political equality was come true to the America.
The songs which I prefer were Barry McGuire’s Eve of Destruction, KRS-One’s Sound Of
Da Police, and Nas’s Black President. I chose these three songs because I think the question
which they were talking about were important for the United States. The great country is
united country, as the president Reagan said in his first inaugural address, the American are
able to overcome any problem if they are unite together.(Ronald)
The speech which I chose is the president Ronald Reagan. In order to get an easier speech
to write in the portfolio one, chose a speech which address in America important time is
necessary. So I research the America general history first. Next I focus on president who
works on the Civil Right, War World II, Vietnam war, Cold War, Gulf War, 9/11 terrorist
attack. Finally I chose the president Reagan because he was president at the end of Cold War,
and during he was president, the America was dropped out the biggest economic recession
after the War World II, and most of American felt hopeless after the Water Gate Scandal and
failed in the Vietnam War. I chose the president Reagan because he was the one of most
popular president in the American poll. The last reason I chose the president reagan’s address
because he was president form 1981-1989, because this period was too far and too near from
now which have the enough time for people to critic him, and the data about him wouldn’t
lose in because the long time.
It was appeal that I was liberals in the result of Pew Political Typology survey. I thought this
result was really fit to me, because I did this survey two times and got a same result. During
the class, all students were divided on four parts, which were conservative, upbeat, democrats,

and liberal. Being a liberal, I hadn’t got seat in the beginning of grouping, because there were
too many liberal. During the class, each group was asked to discuss three question, they were
gay marriage, gun control, and pray in school. The conservatives disagree with gay marriage,
and support gun control and pray in school. On the other side, all of liberals support gay
marriage; part of liberal thing there should more gun. Most of liberals didn’t care about pray
in school. In my opinion, gay shouldn’t face discrimination, they have right to marriage. And
people should have own gun to guard for their legal right. As for pray in school, it should
depends on student’s religion, and totally decided by student’s themselves. Being a liberal, I
trust only the reasonable can save the country. The President Reagan’s new policy about the
economic and international relationship was deeply effect to the America in the future. I like
listen the hip-pop because the singer usually critical some political events, or singing some
social question in the song. Like the first song I chose was talk about the legislature, and the
second song were talk about the discrimination, and the last song was talk about the first
black man the America president. I like something to change, and the president obama was a
signature for political fair.
During the writing process, the first important things for me was how to developing it.
Luckily, I have the prompt from my structure. Follow the prompt was not difficult to develop
the essay, but the other question was which kind of resource I could use. In order to deal with
this question, I research the president Reagan in the google first, because I want to know
general introduction about this president, research something like what achievement president
Reagan had, and some important thing happened in that period. In the google research, I
knew some key words about President Reagan; next I use these key words did academic

research in the library. These key words included Reaganomics, economic situation, The
Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981, cold war, and Strategic Defense Initiative.
Done the draft only the first step for one essay, use the critical thinking skills to revise the
essay is very important. During the revising, it was easy to find something to edit under the
critical thinking skills. At the first time revising, I found that there should be more transition
words, and I need add one transition paragraph between the speech political context part to
the rhetorical analysis. This writing experience was not only writing something about the
rhetorical analysis, it also let me realized how rhetorical analysis help reader to understand
the literature. I knew rhetorical analysis and some history knowledge though this writing
experience. However, I think my harvest not only this, I trust though this time deeply analysis
rhetorical, it is no longer for me to use rhetorical.
