Procedure: 1. Use colored pencils or crayons to color the parts of each cell. ONLY COLOR THE ODD NUMBERED PICTURES. COLORING KEY FOR THE FOLLOWING CELL PARTS: CELL PART COLOR CELL PART COLOR Cell Membrane Red Chromatin Leave the way it is Nuclear Envelope Blue Chromosomes Leave the way they are Nucleolus Green Spindle Fibers Orange Centromere Pink Centrioles/Centrosomes Yellow 2. Starting with a single sheet of computer paper, fold the paper into 8 equal sections. Cut the sections apart making sure each section is the same size. 3. Repeat Step 2 with two other sheets of computer paper. 4. You will have 24 “pages”, but will only need 20. Save the extra paper for mistakes. 5. Cut out the odd numbered pages that you colored and glue/tape them onto each of the 20 pieces of computer paper in order. (Pictures #1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21,23,25,27,29,31,33,35) 6. Once all the pages have been glued/taped in order, write the name of each phase on the bottom center of each page. 7. The 19th (last) page in your book should have a written color key. Just copy the one above into your book. 8. On the cover (first) page of your book, write “Mitosis Flip Book” by “Name, Date, Hour”. 9. Staple your booklet down the left side so you can “flip” pages and see Mitosis animated. 10. Turn in your booklet with this paper/rubric.
