The pound of England has existed for quite some time and was decided to be left as the nation’s
currency over the Euro. They chose to remain to have an independent currency which actually goes up
against currencies like the dollar and euro. As the pound loses or increases value there is a relation to
how the Euro reacts.

The Euro is a relatively new type of currency which was improvised in 1992 to become a universal
currency throughout most of Europe. To implement the Euro into their system, countries had to meet
strict requirements to ensure to keep the value of the Euro up and avoid inflation.

Background? History of the currency?
The peso has existed for quite some time in Mexico but has faced reforms in order to maintain value
and stay competitive. Throughout history the peso has been one of the most stable currencies in Latin
America and is still is one of the most common there. In 1993 was the most recent change to have new
pesos which took 3 years to fully remove the old currency.

Brazilian Real
Background? History of the currency?
The new Brazilian Real was introduced in 1994 and was quite competitive with the US Dollar. It had a
good ratio to the dollar until its value began to fall unexpectedly. In 2010 new banknotes were
introduced in Brazil which are in circulation with older banknotes.

Japanese Yen
Background? History of the currency?
The Japanese Yen has existed since the late 19th century. The yen lost value after World War II which
caused some standards to be put into place. Since 2008 the Yen gained some more value as other
currencies were declining in their own value.
