Directions: For this week, you will be researching, exploring, and evaluating mental
illnesses in order to provide the best diagnosis for Willy Loman. In addition, you will use
this research in your case study to persuade his family of his condition so that they may get
him the help he needs. Here is the list of mental illnesses that you can explore for Willy
Loman:
 Bipolar Disorder
 Depression
 Schizophrenia
 Stress Response Syndromes – or Chronic Stress
 Dissociative Disorders (formerly called Multiple Personality Disorder)
 Alzheimer & Dementia
*** Remember, it is important for you to only choose 1 mental illness. Some of the
symptoms overlap, therefore, it is your job as a psychiatrist to determine which mental
illness he has (try not to misdiagnose him).
It is imperative that you follow this syllabus/guideline throughout this week of school. If
you do not, YOU WILL set yourself up for failure in setting a good foundation for your case
study and for maintaining a good grade average in this class. Keep this paper on you in
ENGLISH class at ALL TIMES. DO NOT LOSE IT!
