Raiders of the Lost Arc Back to the Future The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Victor Victoria The Time Machine (1960…first and best!) The Odessa File Chaplin Michael Clayton The Fugitive Heaven Can Wait The Untouchables Apollo 13 Dave Hunt For Red October Cinderella Man The Longest Day Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Wait Until Dark Silence of the Lambs In The Bedroom Escape From Alcatraz Frequency The Untouchables Where Eagles Dare The Pianist Sea Biscuit Driving Ms. Daisy The Green Mile Inglourious Basterds Scarface Quiz Show Fargo The China Syndrome The King's Speech Working Girl As Good As It Gets The Insider Trading Places A Fish Called Wanda Willow Tootsie 48 Hours Nuts Robocop Capricorn One Dinner Rush The Talented Mr. Ripley Three Days of The Condor Philadelphia Rudy The 4th Protocol Witness Glengarry Glen Ross The Bourne Identity Changing Lanes Cry Freedom The Sixth Sense When Harry Met Sally Reversal Of Fortune 23 Paces to Baker Street Catch Me If You Can Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home Miracle Breakdown Close Encounters of The Third Kind Hoosiers Misery Time After Time Arthur No Way Out Titanic Blue Thunder The Queen NEVER SEEN BUT WANNA SEE (* means priority) Now You See Me Double Indemnity Charley Varrick (same director of Escape From Alcatraz) State of Play The Third Man (Michael Caine’s fave) The Imitation Game (2014)* The Last King of Scotland The Adventures of Tintin Donnie Darko Princess Bride* Cloud Atlas The Spy Who Came in from the Cold The Big Short* MOVIES I LOVE, (but should never, ever, EVER be considered classics!) F/X Disclosure Let It Ride The Secret of My Success Music & Lyrics FAVORITE DIRECTORS (must love at least two of their movies) Platinum Ron Howard Gold Steven Spielberg Alfred Hitchcock Silver Sydney Pollack Rob Reiner Sidney Lumet John McTiernan Robert Zemeckis Robert Redford (includes Producer* of All The Presidents Men) Brian De Palma Francis Ford Coppola Tony Gilroy Alan J. Pakula Johnathan Demme Guy Hamilton David Fincher Frank Darabont James Cameron David Anspaugh Richard Donner ------------------------*Redford qualifies because, even though Pakula was the director of “All The President’s Men”, Redford was the inspiration and the major guts of the movie. He probably directed more of it then Pakula! He even recruited Dustin Hoffman for the role of Bernstein (at a Knicks game!) The other movie he directed that I love of his is “Quiz Show.” (IMDB’s top 23 directors, in case you’re interested… http://goo.gl/zSZbyd) FAVORITE OSCAR MOMENTS 2003: Adrien Brody (The Pianist). This would have been under the “favorite speeches” section except it was embarrassingly long. However, when he first accepts the award, he takes the Oscar and then makes out with Halle Berry in front of the whole audience! 1974: While David Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor to present the award for Best Picture, a streaker ran on and then off stage and Niven, not flummoxed at all, said one of the funniest things you’ll ever hear a non-comedian say…so perfectly timed too! FAVORITE ACTRESSES Julia Roberts Julie Andrews Angelina Jolie Sandra Bullock Sigourney Weaver Helen Mirren Sally Field Audrey Hepburn Meryl Streep Terri Garr Glenn Close Jamie Lee Curtis Kathy Bates Helena Bonham Carter (special mention) FAVORITE ACADEMY AWARD WINNER SPEECHES https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eZliygf7QI (Michael Douglas for Wall Street) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mKLxWrRVMg* (Jessica Lange for Tootsie) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Scvtm0MwE (Kevin Kline for A Fish Called Wanda) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSgvp0l1n2s (Lawrence Olivier Lifetime Achievement) *Robert Mitchum (along with Sigourney Weaver) was one of Lange’s presenters for Best Actress (Tootsie.) In 1962 Mitchum starred in Cape Fear which Lange also starred in…but in the remake almost 30 years later.
