STUDENT LIFE AND SERVICES
This department provides a range of services to the
students:
UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER (UMC)

Recreation and leisure time activities
The UMC is responsible for the well being
of the students. The staff consists of one
doctor and two nurses. The UMC performs
many consultations during the academic
year.

Coordination of transportation
Access to health care
The highly-qualified staff of the Student Life
Services unit consists of:

and residence supervisors
Resident students are encouraged to play an
active role in creating a responsible community
that respects everyone’s rights and to get to know
each other better by:

participating in different activities and clubs

performing community service

living according to the rules of the campus
The UMC is located on the ground floor of
the residence Etimoë. It is operational 24
hours a day including holidays. The UMC
treats all diseases of the students, and raises
all emergencies. When a case requires
professional help, the student is evacuated
to Abidjan in a clinic chosen by the parents.
Prevention
The UMC is organizing awareness
campaigns and education on AIDS, STDs,
sexuality, tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
Moreover, the UMC ensures compulsory
vaccinations for students and monitoring
vaccine.
The UMC is also providing guidance for
good
mental
health,
food
and
environmental hygiene of the students.
Academic
Advising Center
ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER
The center informs students and helps them explore the majors and get acquainted with the
procedures and the policies of IUGB and the resources available on campus. The advisors are
also available to discuss academic and personal concerns with students and their parents.
Objectives of the academic advising center
1 - Guide students and get them to take responsibility for good planning of their academic
program
2 - Encourage students to succeed
3 - Guide the students to sources of information and academic assistance
4 - Determine the options offered to students to meet graduation requirements
5 - Check the prerequisites for enrollment in courses and for Diplomas
6 - Supervise the implementation of support services in math and writing
7 - Advise students who register for the SAT and TOEFL
8 - Assist students in their choice of courses
9 - Direct students to get the support and/or assistance needed to solve social or academic
problems
10 - Assist them in the preparation of dossiers required for transfer to our partner
universities
11 - Help parents better understand the university system at IUGB.

The IUGB continuing education program aims at:
1 - Updating
2 - Strengthening
3 - Reinforcing the capabilities and language skills of students, professionals and executives
Continuing Education programs are largely non-credits programs. However, certificates are
issued for all courses completed at the expected level of competency or participation.

REGISTRATION
In general, the program calendar follows that of the IUGB academic year, which consists of
three sessions:


Items Required for Application
Due one week before classes start

Completed Pre-Registration Form;
2.
Certified transcripts showing at least the results of the last year from the last
educational institution;
3.
A completed IUGB application form;
4.
Scores from TOEFL or any other standard exam (if available, for University level
entrance)
5.
4 color ID photos of passport quality (1.5 x 1.25 inches or 38 x 32 mm.)
6.
A photocopy of the student’s ID document, and that of the father, mother or legal
guardian, where applicable;
7.
A non-refundable application fee of 50,000 CFA Francs (payable in cash or certified
check only);
8.
A certified photocopy of the definitive certificate of authentication of the BAC issued
by the DECO (RCI), or of other proof of completion of secondary school (leaving
certificate, diploma, or acceptable equivalent supporting documentation).

Costs for transfer to the Student Exchange
program (Visa, SEVIS, ESTA) are to be
borne by the student. These costs are nonrefundable.
*** A daily bus service is available between
the IUGB office in Deux Plateaux and the
IUGB campus in Grand Bassam.
The University default payment is for 15
credits per semester. All students are
encouraged to take at least 15 credits per
semester. However, there is no extra charge
for up to 18 credits for those students approved
to take the maximum (18) number of credits.
Therefore, billing is based on the default rate
of 123,500 F CFA for 15 credits.
Since the Pre-Undergraduate Program is
structured to require students to follow a
prescribed set of courses, billing is not on a per
credit basis, but on a flat rate basis.
