Monday, 9/14/15
Lesson Topic: Consumer Education
Objective: Students will finish their budgeting project.
Instructional Strategies:
1. Students will work with their groups to finish their budgeting project.
2. Students will write their summary of their budgeting project and submit their project along with their rubric.
3. Students will discuss their results of their budgeting project.
Homework: Finish budgeting project if not done.
Assessments: Budgeting project will be submitted for a grade.
Tuesday, 9/15/15
Lesson Topic: Childcare and Babysitting
Objective: Students will learn about the stages of child development.
Procedures:
1. Discuss what is to be a caregiver or babysitter for a child.
2. Students will watch a brief DVD about the stages of child development. Each group will be responsible for taking notes and filling
out a graphic organizer about a stage of child development.
3. Students will share their assigned part of the DVD with the class and fill out the remaining categories of the graphic organizer.
4. Students will discuss the DVD as a class and what they learned.
Homework: None
Assessments: Questioning and discussion
Wednesday, 9/16/15
Lesson Topic: Childcare and Babysitting
Objective: Students will learn about the stages of child development and how to care for a child.
Procedures:
1. Students will have the opportunity to learn about caring for a small child and the stages of child development through our guest speaker
Mrs. Wilkerson and her son Logan. Mrs. Wilkerson is our German teacher who is currently on maternity leave. Students will have the
opportunity to observe a baby and learn about the stages of development, milestones, how to properly hold and feed a small baby and
other care giving skills.
2. Students will write a brief summary of their observation and what they learned through seeing a live baby.
Homework: Write your one paragraph summary on your observation from today’s lesson.
Assessments: Questioning, discussion, observation will be reviewed and given a grade for participation.
Thursday, 9/17/15
Lesson Topic: Childcare and Babysitting
Objective: Students will learn about safety situations when babysitting or caring for a small child.
Instructional Strategies:
1. Review and discuss observations from the previous class period.
2. In groups students will read a care giving case study and answer a series of questions. Students will share their scenarios and answers
with the class.
4. Discuss additional care giving scenarios as a class by reading scenario cards
Homework: None
Assessments: Questioning and discussion
Friday, 9/18/15
Lesson Topic: Childcare and Babysitting
Objective: Students will learn about infant and child safety situations.
Instructional Strategies:
1. Students will watch brief babysitting clips about safety scenarios. After each scenario the DVD will stop and as a class we will discuss
the results.
2. Students will participate in a class activity by matching age appropriate activities for children to their designated age group.
Homework: None
Assessments: Questioning, discussion
