Student Government Class Officer & Representative
Campaign and Election Procedures 2015-2016
For 9th, 10th, & 11th
grade students
Elected Student Government Positions & Representation
Student Government will be comprised of:
o Freshman Class
10 representatives (a Freshman Speaker will be elected in the Fall)
o Sophomore Class
10 representatives plus Class President and Class Vice President
o Junior Class
10 representatives plus Class President and Class Vice President
o Senior Class
10 representatives plus Class President and Class Vice President
Student Government members, once elected, will elect a Student Government President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
and all committee chairs from within the body of representatives.
Expectation of All Student Government Candidates
 Candidates must be free from any suspensions or expulsions from school during the current school year to be eligible to
run for class officer and class representative.
 Attendance is required at ALL Student Government meetings, events and functions.
 Weekly meetings will be held Tuesday mornings (7:25-7:55) in C212 for the 2015-2016 school year.
 All members are expected to make substantial contributions to ALL Student Government events.
 Failure to attend meetings and/or participate in Student Government events could make a member ineligible to run for
another term.
 Members must commit to uphold the Hudson High School Code of Conduct, the Constitution of the Hudson High School
Student Government and the duties of their elected office or position.
General Election Information for Officers and Representatives
 Applications will be available beginning Monday, March 30.
 The completed application MUST BE returned to the Main Office by 3:15 p.m. Friday, April 10. NO exceptions will be made.
 A list of candidates meeting the requirements will be posted after school in the Main Office on Monday, April 13. If your name
is on the list, you must sign up for an interview time (interviews will be scheduled for Weds. April 15 or Wed. April 22).
 Campaign signs for approved candidates may be posted beginning Tuesday, April 14. All signs must be stamped in the Main
Office.
 Campaign signs must be removed by the end of the day Tuesday, April 28.
 Voting will take place in Homeroom during Explorer period Tuesday, April 28.
 Election results will be announced and posted on Thursday, April 30.
Class Representative Applicants – Applicants for Class Representative are required to do the following:
 Complete the attached application and resume.
 Participate in an interview either Tuesday, April 21 during Explorer period or Wednesday, April 22 from 8-9:15.
 The interview SIGN UP sheet will be in the Main Office Wednesday, April 15.
Class Officer Applicants – Applicants for Class Officer are required to do the following:
 Complete the attached application and resume.
 Participate in an interview either Tuesday, April 21 during Explorer period, or Wednesday, April 22 from 8-9:15.
 The interview SIGN UP sheet will be in the Main Office Wednesday, April 15.
 Present a speech to their classmates
o Speeches must be submitted WITH THE APPLICATION, typed and double-spaced by Friday, April 10. NO exceptions!
o Speeches must be between 2 and 3 minutes in length and should focus on the answers to the application questions.
Absolutely NO references will be made toward opponents!
o Speeches for Sophomore and Junior Class Officers will be taped between 8-9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 15 or
Wednesday, April 22, and delivered via morning broadcast Tuesday, April 28. More information will be on the school
website and in the morning announcements.
o Senior Class Officer Candidates will participate in a Town Hall debate, Tuesday, April 28; speeches will be given then.
