FTP is a software which allows every user to install and transfer files or folders
from one system to the other. It also works in a similar way as HTTP for
transferring Web pages from a server to a user browser. File Transfer protocol is
mostly used for downloading a file from a server and then is uploaded as a Web
page file.

The governing body that owns the term FTP, apache defines it as any sending or
receiving directories which are located into the following path
/httpdocs/publications, it is based on transferring files from one place to another.

The way File Transfer Protocol works is by installing the software first on both
machines and then simply taking files one by one and shift them. The software
for FTP can be bought or downloaded form the web browser, however the
requirements are a bit different. As soon as one file is received, the system
confirms it by sending a confirmation message to the system next to it.


In April of 1971 the first FTP standard was created which was RFC 114. It was invented
before TCP/IP was even invented.

RFC was taken from the variety of different types of companies using FTP
software's consisted of medical, and other large areas.

RFC has helped FTP to be available to every company or organization for storage
purposes.

By means of increasing varieties of different companies using FTP has increased
its liabilities of spreading its easy going technology.

Once FTP became famous it was used in various places and the purpose of FTP
was well understood. FTP is considered to be the best tool one can use.
5

FTP had to poise its requirements for a more affluent
set of functionality and with desires for a procedure
that was as simple and easy to execute as possible.

Professionals were hired to train other individuals on
how to operate FTP on their machines such as to
transferring and receiving files from one place to
another.

It took a while for people to be trained on what FTP
does and what its standards are due to the lack of
attention given.
