Propulsion & Energy Group Meeting Summary
Note: P&E Group Meetings Held In Conjunction With ASM & JPC
 Main Topic – Outyear JPC Planning (venues, sponsorships, etc.)
– JPC/IECEC to remain colocated at least through 2011
 ITAR Sessions At JPC – Perception that lack of ITAR sessions is
hurting JPC attendance and paper authorship.
 Discussed holding joint conference with IGTI Turbo Expo
– Hard to do but high interest if can pull it off
 Discussed Green Energy Working Group Transition to PC

Misc Notes of Interest From P&E Group Meeting
•
Current professional membership is 28,755. This is down by 1% from this time last year.
•
Reminder: Nominations for AIAA Fellow or AIAA Honorary Fellow are due to AIAA 15
June 2010, with reference forms due 15 July 2010.
•
The dues increase went into effect 1 May 2010. Information on the increase was
included in Aerospace America, The Daily Launch, Momentum, and individual renewal
notices.
•
The AIAA Web site redesign project is under way. A survey, a comprehensive current
site audit, and a member usability study at the Aerospace Sciences Meeting have been
completed. The current Web site now accepts advertising on the home page. There has
been strong initial interest in this option.
•
2010 will be the last year for the conference proceedings on DVD. Announcements and
reminders will begin appearing in conference preliminary programs, in Aerospace
America, in various online newsletters, on AIAA’s conference Web sites, and in
messages sent to institutional customers.

ABPSI Splinter Meeting –
How do we get more quality papers
 Much overlap between TC’s
 Joint sessions with High-speed
 Guidelines for ABPSI
– Vehicle integration
– Combined cycle
– Inlet/Nozzle
 For ASM 11 Ryan Starkey will if we can distribute guidelines
to reviewers post facto
 For JPC 11 Give reviewers guidelines
 For ‘12 and beyond TAO will work harder to coordinate/clarify
call for papers
 All TAO’s should have access to all ABP papers or give
31
access Über TAO
