Preamble The Preamble: COPY ONTO YOUR PAPER EXACTLY We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. Preamble Vocab: • Union: The act or uniting/coming together to form the U.S.A. • Justice: Fairness, treat people with respect. • Domestic: home, on U.S.A. soil. • Tranquility: Calm, peaceful, happiness • Common Defense: A military defending our country & rights. • Welfare: Responsibility of government to provide, health, happiness, prosperity. • Liberty: Freedoms • Posterity: Future generations • Ordain: To make Constitution document official. Posterity vs Prosperity Posterity: Future generations, your kids and their kids and their kids and their kids etc… Prosperity: To have money or wealth, not necessarily loaded or rich but financially okay!
