Italian Cultural Project on Italian food or drinks in Downtown Monterey Stage 1: Research in English Stage 2: Explore and gather information in Downtown Monterey on Field Trip Stage 3: Present to class in Italian using visuals, such as: PowerPoint, drawings, pictures, etc. Stage 1: Research in English Directions: 1. Find a partner to work with. (Groups of two) 2. Research on the computer and pick three different types of Italian food or drinks found on Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey. (e.i. Panini, espresso, biscotti) 3. For each food or drink answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper. (1 paper per group) a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. j. Who invented it? Where did it originate? When did it originate? How is it prepared and cooked? What are its ingredients? Why is it important to Italian culture? How does it compare with your own culture? What kind of connection can you make with your own culture? In what type of community would you find this food or drink in Italy and in your own? (e.i. Rich, poor, urban, rural, suburban) Why is it important to the community? (e.i. Tradition, ritual, cultural) Stage 2: Field Trip to Downtown Monterey Directions: 1. A Full-Body-Shot of you holding it. A Wide Shot of the outside of the Coffee Shop, Restaurant, or Convenient Store. 3. You will use Stage 1 and Stage 2 to complete Stage 3 Presentation.
