Italian Cultural Project on
Italian food or drinks in Downtown Monterey
Stage 1: Research in English
Stage 2: Explore and gather information in Downtown Monterey on Field Trip
Stage 3: Present to class in Italian using visuals, such as: PowerPoint, drawings,
pictures, etc.
Stage 1: Research in English
Directions:
1. Find a partner to work with. (Groups of two)
2. Research on the computer and pick three different types of Italian
food or drinks found on Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey.
(e.i. Panini, espresso, biscotti)
3. For each food or drink answer the following questions on a
separate piece of paper. (1 paper per group)

Stage 2: Field Trip to Downtown Monterey
Directions:
1. In the same group of two, find the food or drink you
researched in Stage 1.
2. Take three pictures of the food or drink.

A Wide Shot of the outside of the Coffee Shop,
Restaurant, or Convenient Store.
3. You will use Stage 1 and Stage 2 to complete Stage 3

pictures, etc.
In English, present your findings using visuals (PowerPoint, Posters, Pictures,
website, keynote, video, slideshow, etc):
For each food or drink present the following questions visually by

product.
Write and read out loud three sentences about the food and/or drink chosen using
the verbs, “Piacere and Avere.”
In addition write and read out loud, using either “Ci sono” or “C’è.”
You should have 3 sentences in Italian of one of the products chosen.
You should have 9 sentences in total for all three products.

Write a 20 Sentence Dialogue in Italian about the threefoods/drinks products
chosen using Passato Prossimo, Imperfetto, Condizionale
Presente, Presente, and or Progressivo. For example you can
describe how to order a meal at a restaurant. Perform the
dialogue in front of class as part of this project.
