GENERAL INFORMATION

The goals of this course are the following:
a.
Focusing on customers
b.
Effective communication
c.
Managing conflict
d.
Anticipating and facilitating change
e.
Learning to apply technical analytical techniques rigorously and
practically.
2 The dates of the midterm examination and the final examination are stated on
this Syllabus
3 The criterion applied to assign a final grade consists of a weighted average of
student performance in three metrics:
(a) A weight of 30% is applied to student performance on the midterm
examination
(b) A weight of 65% is applied to student performance on the final
examination
(c) The instructor will address technical questions during class meetings to
every student. A weight of 5% is applied to student performance
responding those technical questions.
4 The weighted average defined in paragraph 3 corresponds to a final grade
described in the ranges:

weighted average < 70 is a failing grade
70  weighted average < 80 corresponds to a grade of C (+ or -)

weighted average < 89 corresponds to a grade of B (+ or -)
weighted average corresponds to a grade of A (+ or -)
5 Generally, pluses or minuses are assigned in 3 point increments; e.g. a
weighted average between 80 and 83 corresponds to a grade of B- , a weighted
average between 84 and 86 corresponds to a grade of B and a weighted average
between 87 and 89 corresponds to a grade of B+
6 Final grades are assigned by applying the numerical criteria described in
paragraphs 3 and 4. Relative student performance is irrelevant.
7 All examinations will be closed book. No notes or the collateral sources will
be permitted. Students may use a hand-held calculator. Students may not use a
cellular telephone for any purpose during the examinations.
8 Occasional notices and grades will be posted on the Blackboard website
assigned to this section. The student should check the website reasonably often.
9 The solutions to the homework problems will be installed on Blackboard.
