ALTHOFF CATHOLIC GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS A student must successfully complete a minimum of 27 credits. Seniors at Althoff Catholic perform a minimum 90 hours of community service outside of school during the month of January and a retreat. The 82 seniors of the Althoff Catholic Class of 2015 were awarded over $5.6 million in institutional and community scholarship money. The Class of 2015 graduated 100% of the class with 85% of the students attending a four year college or university, 14% are attending a two year college, and 1% the military service. UNWEIGHTED GRADING SCALE A=92.5-100 B=84.50-92.49 C=76.50-84.49 D=68.50-76.49 F=68.49 and below GPA is computed on A=4, B=3, C =2 and D=1 No plus or minus grades are used. HONORS GRADE POINT AVERAGE SCALE Students who take Honors courses receive an extra 1.87 credit per course, per semester for grades of “C” or higher. This is computed and averaged at the semester and an Honors GPA is reported as well as a regular GPA. Students at Althoff Catholic taking Honors courses receive a weighted rank and a regular class rank. WEIGHTED HONORS GPA: A= 5.87; B=4.87, C=3.87; D=1 1818 ADVANCED COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM AND ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES Althoff Catholic participates in the 1-8-1-8 Program sponsored by St. Louis University which allows high school students to earn college credits before graduation. Advanced classes are offered for college credit in English, Theology and Science. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale to be eligible to participate. Advanced College Credit courses are more challenging courses; they provide extra GPA weight and college credit if the student pays the additional fee to St. Louis University. The student must earn a grade of “C” or higher and will receive a transcript from St. Louis University. Althoff Catholic offers AP courses in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Social Studies.
