Photo 1: Assignment #1 Point of View
Point of View: Photographs taken from the Photographer (that’s you) viewpoint.
Depending on where you are standing, and/or sitting and how you have your
camera tilted will determine the point of view from your location.
1. Normal viewpoint: the subject appears directly in front of the photographer.
The camera is not tilted but in a straight position against the photographers eye.
2. Bird’s Eye view: The camera is tilted downward toward the subject. So it
appears as if the subject is below the normal eye position. You may need to get on
a ladder or chair in order to be taller than the subject. Used to show intimidation,
smallness and fragility.
3. Worm’s Eye view: The camera is tilted at an angle toward the sky which
makes the subject seem taller/bigger and more in control. Propaganda and
political shots are examples of shots taken using this technique.
