Processing: Heart Structure 1. Cut out the diagram below and tape it onto the center of p20a. 2. Draw arrows to show the flow of blood through the heart. Draw arrows that show where blood leaves and enters the heart, label them with a description of where the blood is flowing to/from (to lungs, from lungs, to body, from body). 3. Color oxygenated blood red and deoxygenated blood blue. 4. Use a different color to highlight the thicker muscles of the left ventricle. 5. Use a different color to highlight the septum (may have some color overlap here). 6. Draw a border of valves around p20a that symbolizes the function of valves. 7. Somewhere on p20a, hypothesize why the left ventricle needs to have thicker muscles than the right ventricle. 8. Somewhere on p 20a, hypothesize why we need a septum to separate the right and left sides of the heart. 9. Somewhere on p 20a, hypothesize why we need valves to prevent the backflow of blood.
