Isaiah 44:8 8Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Isaiah 45:5 5I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: Isaiah 45:6 - 6That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:21 - 21Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Mark 12:29 - 29And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: Hosea 13:4 - 4Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me. Mark 12:32 32And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:, (Mark 12:34 … “Thou art not far from the kingdom of God…”) James 2:19 - 19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Galatians 3:20 - 20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Revelation 4:2 - 2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. How many did he see on the throne? ONE The Bible says “God is a Spirit” and we have the Holy Spirit. Is there two Spirits? NO, God is a Spirit and God is One. JESUS Isaiah 9:6 - 6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Colossians 2:9-10 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: John 1:1-4 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:14 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Who dwelt among us? The Word. Who was The Word? God. What was his NAME? JESUS 2 Peter 1:11 - 11For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was Lord and Savior Acts 13:23 23Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: Israel’s Saviour is Jesus Philippians 3:20 20For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Titus 3:5-6 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; Washing and renewing of the Holy Ghost 2 Peter 2:20 20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ 2 Peter 3:18 18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ God is our Lord and Savior… Jesus is our Lord and Savior. How many Saviors are there? ONLY ONE GOD God is the mighty God and the everlasting Father… Jesus is the mighty God and the everlasting Father. How many mighty Gods and everlasting Fathers are there? ONLY ONE GOD The NAME and mode of Baptism Matthew 28:19 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: “NAME” John 5:43 43I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. The Name of the Father is: JESUS Matthew 1:21 43I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. The Name of the Son is: JESUS John 14:26 26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The Name of the Holy Ghost is: JESUS The NAME in Matthew 28:19 is: JESUS Acts 4:12 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Colossians 3:17 17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Luke 24:46-47 46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. …remission of sins should be preached in his name… The old man is buried and sins are remitted at baptism. This should be done in his NAME. Romans 6:4 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Acts Chapters 1 and 2 Acts 1:2-5 2Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: 4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:8 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 2:1-4 1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:5-13 5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. Acts 2:14-15 14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. Why Peter and What about him is so great? Peter – Called of God Matthew 4:18-19 18And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Peter – Had the faith to get out of the boat Matthew 14:28-29 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. Peter- The rock, Given the Key’s Matthew 16:13-19 13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. What happened to Peter and the others before Jesus was carried up into heaven? Luke 24:44- 49 44And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48And ye are witnesses of these things. 49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Peter continues to explain and give us the understanding of the Plan of Salvation, Acts 2:16-36 The prophet Joel and David proclaimed this Acts 2:37-39 37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Acts 2:38 - Plan of Salvation Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 38 At this time the rest of the twelve were with Peter. No one said “That’s not what Jesus meant or said” However many are saying it today. Peter and the other twelve spent time with Jesus and He opened their minds to the understanding of the scriptures. There is a heaven and hell deference between “Knowledge repeated and Knowledge applied” Peter and the others did not just repeat what Jesus said, they applied as they were given the understanding. What did Peter mean when he talked about being Baptized In the Name of Jesus Christ? Many would say that when Peter said “in the Name of Jesus Christ” that he is speaking of the authority of Jesus. In that authority we should baptize by repeating what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19. How do we finish most of your prayers today “In Jesus Name Amen?” Pray for the sick in Jesus Name. Pray for our food in Jesus Name. We come against the devil and cast out/down evil spirits in Jesus Name. Why? Because we all know that there is no greater power than the Name of Jesus Christ. We can pray for the sick all day and say be healed in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. We can even try to cast out/down evil spirits in the same manner. However it will not be effective because the power solely rest in the Name of Jesus Christ. Also, when we pray in Jesus Name we are obeying Colossians 3:17. Many teach by way of the doctrine this verse does not apply to baptism (were the power in the Name of Jesus is most important). We pray for the sick in Jesus Name because we are obeying James 5:14 “…in the name of the Lord.” If we are to just repeat the word of God with out understanding we all should be praying for the sick in this way, “be healed in the name of the Lord”. However we do not pray for the sick like this because we have an understanding of what the Word of God is saying in James 5:14 and we apply the Word of God by praying for the sick in Jesus Name because we know the power is in the Name of Jesus. Many apply the power of Jesus Name in every other area in their doctrine and prayer however they refuse to baptize in the Name of Jesus Christ thus applying Matthew 28:19 with understanding. Without the Name of Jesus Christ being spoken at baptism there is no Power applied, I don’t care how you slice it up all the power is only in the Name of Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:18 - 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Acts 4:12 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Examples: Acts 8:14-16 14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 10:48 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 19:5 5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 22:16 16And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. We know the NAME to be: JESUS This is a heaven and hell to issue remember there is a vast difference between “Knowledge repeated and Knowledge applied” By having the Name of Jesus removed from baptism the devil is still attacking and preventing, “that which was lost”, by sin. What was lost when Adam and Eve sinned? The communication God had with his creation was lost (a relationship with God). It was severed by sin. Creation reconnects with God though Salvation. Salvation only comes by applying the name of Jesus. The doctrine of the early church has been change by man to remove the Name of Jesus from baptism. If the devil can get the Name removed he has removed the source of the power. The devil understands the power and need of the Name of Jesus very clearly, more than many in church today. Once again Colossians 3:17 and Acts 2:38 …do all in the name of the Lord Jesus… …be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins… The Baptism Of the Holy Spirit and do I needed it to make Heaven? John 3:7 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:5 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Romans 8:99But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. John 14:26 26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 2 Corinthians 13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. (Jesus, Peter, Philip, Paul) 1 Jesus; Mark 16:16-17 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; The signs above cannot happen without the infilling of the Holy Ghost Peter: Acts 2:4 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Philip: Acts 8: 12-18 12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Paul: 1 Corinthians 14:18 18I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: Peter: Acts 11:15-16 15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Paul: Acts 19:4-6 4Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 13 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Acts 19:2 2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Romans 6:3-5 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: We enter into the likeness of his resurrection by in-filling of the Holy Ghost. John 14: 15-20 15If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. Colossians 1:26-27 26Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: The hope of glory is Christ in you 2 Corinthians 3:17 17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 1 Peter 1:12 12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. Some say that “believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire” but is not needed to be saved. I go back to John 3:5 and review the above text. Also, let’s think about Sanctification Romans 12:1-2 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. G38 ἁγιασμός hagiasmos Thayer Definition: 1) consecration, purification 2) the effect of consecration 2a) sanctification of heart and life Sanctification is consecration and purification, living a life of holiness before God. Hebrews 12:1414Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 1 Peter 1:22 22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 1 Peter 1:13-16 13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Sanctification and the power to live a holy life can only come by the Spirit of Truth. John 17:1717Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:1919And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. John 14:17 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. The Comforter, the Holy Ghost, is the Spirit of Truth. Nothing about us alone is Holy. We can not live a Holy life by the power of our own spirit. Only by the power of the Holy One, The Holy Ghost, can a person live a life of sanctification, holiness and truth. Romans 15:16 16That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. We can only obey the commandment in 1 Peter 1:16 (above) by the power of the Holy Ghost. Without holiness, only by the holy one living in side of us, we will not see the Lord. How can some believe and teach that the in-filling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance is not needed for our salvation (not true)? Also, some believe and teach that without sanctification by living a life of holiness (only can be done by the power of the Holy Ghost, Christ in us), no man can see the Lord (this is true). Without out the power of the Holy Ghost actively working in our lives we will not see the Kingdom of God. The in-filling of the Holy Ghost is a must have for Salvation; to deny this is to deny the Gospel. Thank about how the early church doctrine has be changed over time. Two things no longer needed for salvation, in much of Christianity today; 1. The name of Jesus at Baptism and 2. The Baptism of Holy Spirit. I want you to ask yourself why were these two elements attacked and removed. The devil knows that it is only by the power in the name of Jesus that sin can be remitted and by the power of the Holy Spirit is the only way we can live a life of Sanctification and Holiness. The devil also understands Romans 8:9. … Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Remove the name of Jesus and the need of the Holy Spirit and you have removed the power in salvation. Being a Christian and to make Heaven our home we must relate to Jesus Christ. When we obey the Word of God in the plan of Salvation, we do this. The plan of Salvation is clearly told to us in Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 38 How dose the Plan of Salvation in Acts 2:38 relate to Jesus Christ? “Repent” = As Jesus died, we die to our sins “be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ” = we are buried with him in baptism and the power of the name of Jesus Christ remits our sin. “Ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” = The resurrection – “…according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead”. Do we all believe Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not…”, Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever”, Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever”. and Psalm 119:89 “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” Let us also agree on Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 6 So lets preach and teach, if someone needs to; obey, this same Gospel message: Repent be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ Ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost Philippians 2:12 - 12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. God Bless
