Please read the following scholarship list carefully. If you feel that you are eligible to apply for any of the
scholarships, pick up an application in the Guidance Office from the Scholarship Table or access the
listed website. If you are unable to find an application, notify the Guidance Office for assistance.
READ THE BULLETINS CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS -- IF THERE ARE ANY
DIFFERENCES IN THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND THE BULLETIN DIRECTIONS,
CHECK IN GUIDANCE FOR CLARIFICATION.
STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAILING THEIR OWN APPLICATIONS,
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED ON THIS BULLETIN.
IN FAIRNESS TO ALL APPLICANTS, APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
ESTABLISHED DEADLINES.
TIPS: Many local scholarship organizations suggest additional attachments
to their applications. The following items are usually suggested and
should be prepared in advance and be available to attach to your
applications:
1. One to three letters of recommendation (may be from a teacher, coach, counselor,
employer, or church / community member familiar with you and your community
activities, etc.)(Ask permission to copy letters and keep them in a file)
2. Resume of your activities, awards, accomplishments, and community service
throughout high school.(Make copies and keep them in a file)
3. Essay (brief, one-page) outlining your goals for the future and how your family
will be impacted if you do not receive any financial help for college. (Keep on
your computer ….ready to adjust for each scholarship application need)
4. Transcript – If your scholarship application is to be turned in to the Guidance
Office, the transcript will be attached for you. If your application is to be
mailed/submitted by you, complete a transcript request form and allow 2 – 3 days
for processing.
www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org - It is time to apply for Florida Bright Futures
Scholarships. Applications must be completed as soon as possible, even if you are planning
to retake the ACT or SAT. Your application will be automatically updated with your new
scores.
www.fafsa.gov - Federal Financial Aid application. Apply for your
pin number and submit your application as soon as possible. Check
with your college for deadlines. (Info sheets available in Guidance)
1. USA Funds – Access to Education Scholarships - $1,500 awards (renewable) Open to students with a
family income of $35,000 or less on a documented 2009 federal income tax return. At least 50% of the awards
will be targeted to minority and/or disabled students. Applications will be accepted online until February 15,
2010 at www.usafunds.org
2. Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC) – www.fapsc.org – Scholarship
Multiple awards through participating* Florida colleges and schools. *Please check on-line to see if your
school is listed. Application deadline is March 12, 2010.
3. Best Buy Dollars for Scholars Community Volunteer Service Awards Program –
www.bestbuy.com/scholarships or www.at15.com Application deadline is February 15, 2010.
4. Hernando Civic Club – $500 Open to any senior planning to attend college. Preference given to a
Hernando resident. Applications due in Guidance no later than February 26, 2010.
5. American Irish Club of West Citrus – Undetermined amount. Brief personal essay required. Application
due in Guidance no later than March 9, 2010.
6. Citrus County Shooting Club – Up to $1,000 scholarship - Preference to a Citrus County graduate
planning to pursue a career in the law enforcement field. Must have: 3 letters of recommendation; Letter of
acceptance to college/university; Essay - Two full pages – IN YOUR OWN WORDS – “What the Second
Amendment to the Constitution means to me.” Applications are due in Guidance no later than 3/25/2010.
7. Operation Progress – John Coughlin Memorial – Must have 3.0 GPA or higher and plan to attend a 4-yr.
University. Application due in Guidance no later than March 12, 2010.
8. First United Methodist Church, Homosassa - $1,000 Preference may be given to applicants from
Homosassa and Chassahowitzka seeking college degrees in education and pursuing teaching careers.
Completed applications are due in Guidance no later than April 1, 2010.
9. William J. English Memorial Scholarship - www.faeds.org One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded for
the current academic year to a selected high school or vocational school senior who is planning to attend a
Florida public or private college and who is planning to major in computer science and/or information
technology related field. Deadline is February 15th for the academic year beginning with Fall Term.
10. Imagine Your Future in Agriculture – 100 awards nationwide $1,500.00 to a senior who comes from a
farm family and plans to pursue a career in the field of agriculture.

11. National Marine Corps Scholarship (www.mcsf.com) Application will be available on-line in midFebruary 2010.

RMHC/African American Future Achievers: Applicant must have at least one parent of African
American or Black Caribbean heritage
RMHC/HACER: Applicant must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage
RMHC Scholars: ALL students can apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation,
gender, disability or national origin.
13. Masters & Wardens Assoc. - Minimum 3.0 G.P.A. and brief essay required. Students must mail
completed applications to be received no later than March 12, 2010.
14. Kiwanis Club of Homosassa Springs – Multiple Awards Completed applications are due in Guidance
March 22, 2010.
15. Gulf to Lakes Pilot Club – Open to any senior planning to attend college. Applications are due to the club
by April 1ST . (Guidance Office will mail the applications, if completed and turned in by March 19, 2010)
16. Riverhaven Garden Club - Preference will be given to students planning to major in agriculture,
horticulture, or some related field, BUT all applications will be accepted. Completed applications are due in
Guidance March 19, 2010.
17. Crystal River Little League – for students who completed five seasons as a player in Crystal River Little
League. Student to mail. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 12, 2010.
18. Altrusa Club of Citrus County – Open to any senior planning to attend college. Applications are due in
Guidance no later than March 9, 2010.
19. Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WREC) – Multiple awards of $750 per semester
(renewable) to dependents of Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc. members who have lived
within the service area of WREC for at least one year prior to December 31st. Student must have
maintained a minimum 2.0 G.P.A., and plan to attend a FLORIDA college full time. Completed applications
are due to WREC Educational Foundation no later than March 5, 2010.
20. Citrus County School Food Service Assoc. – preference given to student who will study food/nutrition,
but all applications accepted. Completed applications are due in Guidance not later than March 22, 2010.
21. Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award (SAMMY 2010) – Multiple $7,500 awards
nationwide to recognize outstanding scholar athletes Students must apply on-line at www.bodybymilk.com
Applications must be received by March 5, 2010.
22. F.A.S.F.E.P.A. - $1,000 for student entering studies in the Field of Arts or Sciences in Education.
(Teaching or Administration) Completed applications are due in Guidance not later than 2/26/10.
23. Afro-American Club of Citrus County – 2.5 GPA or higher preferred, but all applications will be
considered; proof of college enrollment; financial need. Student to mail. Applications must be received by the
committee by April 12, 2010.
24. Citrus Garden Club – to be awarded to a citrus county high school senior. Applicant must demonstrate
an interest in preserving the environment. Completed applications must be returned before March 31, 2010.

25. Festival of the Arts. – Visual Arts Applications are due to the committee by April 5, 2010. (student
mail) Portfolio exhibitions and interviews will be scheduled.
26. Johnson Scholarship Foundation – (http://jsf.bz/index_new.asp for applications)
1. for students of a United Parcel Service employee or retiree living in Florida. Due date – 4/15/10
2. for students with disabilities who attend/will attend one of the eleven Florida state universities

27. Karl C. Schultz/Homosassa Elementary School Scholarship – Applicant must have graduated from
Homosassa Elementary and will graduate high school this year. Completed applications must be mailed by
student. Postmark deadline is March 31, 2010.
28. Hernando Elementary Carol Mainor Athletic Scholarship – Applicant must have graduated from
Hernando Elementary and excelled in athletics during high school. Completed applications must be mailed by
student. Postmark deadline is March 26, 2010.
29. Bright House Networks – Volunteer Youth Awards Open to grades 9 – 12. Must have minimum 2.5
GPA and minimum 50 volunteer hours (between May 08 – Apr 09) to apply. Winners receive a laptop
computer. Application deadline – April 16, 2010.
30. Marine Corps League Citrus Detachment 819 – $1,000 scholarship – Applicant must have a U.S.
Marine association through family. Completed applications are due in the Guidance Office no later than
February 12, 2010.
31. Crystal River Moose Lodge - $500 Applicant must have proof of community service, proof of
college/university acceptance or application, have letters of recommendation, and provide one brief essay.
Scholarship will be awarded after successful completion of first semester of college. Completed applications
are due in the Guidance Office no later than February 12, 2010.
32. Cooperative Living Organization, Inc. – http://cloliving.org/ Low cost housing for incoming UF and
Santa Fe students. CLO now taking applications for Spring & Summer terms.
33. Citizen’s Academy Alumni Assoc. of Citrus County Sheriff’s Office - $100 Application due to Student
Services Office no later than March 15, 2010.
34. Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776 – www.citruspurpleheart.org Military Order of the Purple Heart
(local) - $500 to a student planning to attend CFCC. Applicant must be a child, grandchild, or greatgrandchild of an armed forces veteran who served in a combat theater of operations. Completed applications
are due back to Chapter 776 by February 26, 2010. (Information flyers are in Guidance)
35. Military Order of the Purple Heart (national) – www.purpleheart.org $3,000 to direct descendants of
purple heart recipients (plus other associations). (see website for more information about eligibility)

36. Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) – http://media.living.net Essay contest -- The first-place winning
entry in each of FAR's 13 Regional Districts will receive a $1,000 scholarship; Also, an award of $5,000 will go
to each of three State Level winners Postmark deadline - February 8th.
37. National FFA Organization – Many, Many scholarships for students pursuing careers in any agricultural

38. Cottey College is a two-year independent, residential, liberal arts and sciences college for women. It is
located in Nevada, MO. Substantial scholarship funds from local sources are available to young women who
attend this school. See Mrs. Marshall, in Guidance, if interested.
39. Black Diamond Foundation – $2,000 renewable Open to students with 3.0 GPA and above. (25%
weighting factor) Extra-curricular activities & community service (25% weighting factor), and financial need
(50% weighting factor). Applications are due in Guidance on or before March 26, 2010.
40. Blanco Foundation, Inc. – for students planning to go into nursing or education. Applications are due to
the foundation by February 1, 2010.

 Eligibility: Must have earned Eagle Award and religious emblem, must be a high school
student and Florida resident, must be in troop chartered to an American Legion Post or the son
or grandson of a Legion member or parent eligible to join The American Legion Department of
Florida.

year of school, and must be chosen by JROTC commanding officer. Only one application per

Junior Shooting Sports: - Sporter & Precision Individual State Winners - $500 plus an additional
$500 if they advance to the Qualification Round. Sporter & Precision Team State Winners - $500
 Eligibility: Must be a member of JROTC shooting team who is registered with the Junior
Shooting Program at The American Legion National Headquarters. Deadline: January 1 of
current school year.
Patriotism in Art: 1st - $500.00 to the student and $500.00 to the school art program; two runner-ups
- $250.00 to each student and $250.00 to each school’s art program.

50. Homosassa Lions Foundation - $1,000 scholarship. Preference will be given to students pursuing
education in medical fields pertaining to one of the following areas: hearing impaired; mentally challenged; or
speech, physical or occupational therapy. Completed applications are due in the Guidance Office no later than
February 19, 2010.
51. BayNews9 Project Weather – One time award - $1,000 to student who has excelled in science. Must have
minimum GPA of 3.5. Student is responsible to complete and mail application by January 23, 2010.

53. Homosassa Civic Club, Inc. – Beri Hagerty Memorial Scholarship offered to a student who lives within
the Homosassa School District. Preference will be given to students who volunteer 15 hrs. of community
service to the Civic Club at the Homosassa Seafood Festival the 2nd weekend in November 2009. Applications
will be mailed by Guidance if turned in by March 22nd. Otherwise, student is responsible to mail his/her own
