This role profile is non-contractual and provided for guidance. It will be updated and amended from
time to time in accordance with the changing needs of the University and the requirements of the
job.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The primary purpose of this role is to develop, lead and manage a suite of services across the
university that will enhance employment outcomes for our graduates through internships, work
experience and graduate placements, and forge beneficial, long-term relationships between the
university and employers.
Operating with a leadership role within the university and the business community, the role holder
will ensure that services are designed to meet the needs of both employers and students, ensuring a
strong client focus and service ethos at all times.
The role holder will be expected to work closely and flexibly with both faculty and central teams to
drive the integration of joined-up employability services across the university, to deliver excellent
outcomes for graduates and value-added services for employers.
Responsibilities will also include regular strategic level networking and influencing amongst key
regional employers, business groups, and public-private partnerships, to raise the profile and
awareness of the university and its graduates, so championing the contribution they can make within
the region we serve.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Team Specific:
1. To provide overall leadership and management of employment services staff and teams in
GRE.

2. Working with key colleague across the university, make a tangible contribution to the
delivery of a long-term graduate employability strategy as measured by increased positive
employment outcomes for University of Greenwich graduates.
3. To lead on the design and delivery of high-quality client-and student-focussed services that
are responsive to business’ and students’ needs, working closely with Faculty employability
teams on planning and delivery.
4. To ensure that central services are aligned and integrated with the needs of students and
graduates within Faculties.
5. To manage a network of Faculty-based employer partnership managers, to ensure that
Faculty targets for internships, work experience and other placement opportunities are met.
6. To be first point-of-contact on a day to day basis for the management of the University’s
contract with the Reed ncfe graduate employment support team.
7. To lead on the implementation and adoption of a CRM system within Faculties to ensure
transparent sharing of information on tracking and management of employer contacts.
8. To work collaboratively with other GRE heads of Service, the REED ncfe service, and Faculties
to ensure a seamless and joined up approach to employers and business clients.
9. To lead on building strategic relationships with key regional employers, business support
groups and networks, and local enterprise bodies involved in the planning and funding of
regional business growth programmes, to ensure that the benefits of student and graduate
placements and internships are recognised in their business plans and strategies.

10. To provide specialist reports and information on industrial sector and labour market trends,
to inform fresh approaches to employers, and curriculum design.
11. To lead on the development and submission of bids for funding from external sources to
support the delivery of additional student and graduate work placement schemes.
12. To participate in business networking meetings, employability events, conferences and other
external meetings to promote the University’s employment support services and act as a
champion for the University within the business community.
13. To lead on university submissions for relevant service quality charter marks and
accreditations.
14. To support the university’s participation in the Destination of Leavers in Higher Education
(DLHE) survey.

Additional Requirements:
Regular travel in London, south-east of England, and, occasionally, nationally, will be required.

50% of students in each Faculty’s eligible cohort to be participating in an internship or other
graduate level work experience by third year of operation.
