"My Cell Book"
(190 points)
Due Date: Monday, November 17th
Background: You may choose to create a book about ______________cells. This book will
be simple, but detailed. The language should be basic, but the scientific words should be
used. Example: when describing mitochondria, it is necessary to use that exact word.
When describing what the mitochondria looks like and describing the purpose and/or
function of mitochondria, use words that are simple to understand.
Format: The book should be 5½ x 8½ (½ the size of a normal sheet of paper)
What to include in the book:
1. Cover page (book title, author's name, quarter, period and illustration)
2. Table of content (write cell parts and page numbers in the same order as the score
sheet)
3. Introduction (an overview of the book and why cells are important to the organism)
4. Cell Parts - This should contain 10 parts of the cell, starting with the cell wall or cell
membrane. The cell wall is first if doing plant or some bacteria cells. Start with the cell
membrane first if you are doing animal cell. You can choose the other parts on your own.
There needs to be a picture on each page, clearly showing the part you are describing.
There should also be 3-5 sentences including detailed information describing the
structure and function of the cell part.
5. Conclusion (summarize the entire book in 1 page)
6. Bibliography – 2 sources used to write the book (properly formatted in MLA format)

“Cell Model"
(190 points)
Due Date: Monday, November 17th
Background: You may choose to create a scale model of a ____________________cell.
You may choose any type of cell you’d like. This model must be simple, but detailed. Each
part of the cell must be visible. The cell parts must resemble the looks of the actual
structure. Each cell part must be labeled. On a separate piece of paper, you must make a
pictograph key. This must include the cell part (using the same material you used on the
model: if you used pipe cleaner to represent mitochondia, a pipe cleaner must be on the
pictograph). It must also include the cell part’s name and one or two sentences with its
description and function.
Actual
material
used on
model goes
here
Example:
Mitochondria – These are rod-shaped structures with a double membrane. The
inside appears maze-like. The function of mitochondria is to produce usable
chemical energy for cell usage.
What to include:
1.
Model (shape should appear like the actual cell’s shape) (CELL PARTS CAN NOT
BE MADE OF PERISHABLES OR ANYTHING WITH SUGAR)
2.
Pictograph key should be on a separate sheet of paper (no larger than 11X14).
