Brian Lamb School of Communication Communication Lecturer – Job Description for Full-Time Continuing Lecturer in Presentational Speaking - (Academic Year Appointment) Position Begins: August, 2012 Requirements: MA or PhD in Communication or related discipline; experience teaching undergraduate classes in Presentational Speaking or courses with a speaking component; strong organizational skills; willingness to be flexible on specific teaching schedules according to the needs of the School. The position of full-time continuing lecturer for the Brian Lamb School of Communication includes the following duties: 1. Teach four sections of COM 114 (Presentational Speaking) or related courses each semester in the Brian Lamb School of Communication. 2. Meet all assigned classes in accord with the university academic calendar. 3. Hold office hours for undergraduate students each week for each class taught in a given semester. 4. Develop appropriate course syllabi for assigned classes and report final grades for all students in a timely fashion in accord with university policy. 5. Show willingness to be flexible in course assignments and teaching times according to the School’s needs. 6. Abide by all course polices for any course taught as given by the course supervisor for a given course. There is also the possibility for a half-time appointment teaching two sections per semester instead of four.
