Backup your Database if needed (recommended)
If you have a Database you would like to backup go into Smartbar Software:
System Setup > System Utilities > “Export System” > (choose a location to export), click “Start
System Export”
Write down your registration Key
Under “System Setup” > “System Information” > “License Key”
Write this down. In the case that for some reason your registration is lost, you will need to send the key to “ info@smartbar.eu
”. Notify Smartbar that you need this key renewed because of a re-install that did not maintain your registration information.
Clean removal of old software
(1) Stop Wunder-Bar/Smartbar software Graphical User Interface (GUI)
(2) Start > Run
Type: services.msc (enter)
Stop these services: Apache, MySQL, smartbarservice.exe, (and any other smartbar services if they exist. Some older version of smartbar included a “Smartbar monitor” service.)
(3) Start > Run

Type: taskmgr (enter)
Under the “Processes” tab: Check to see if “smartbarmonitor” process is running, or any other
“smartbar” processes. End these tasks if running.
(4) Go to: Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs (Win XP)
OR
Programs and Features > Uninstall (Win 7)
Remove software:
(if they exist)
Smartbar 5.x.x
MySQL / ODBC connector
Smarbar Wireless Metering
(5) Start > Run
Type: services.msc (enter)
Check to see if there are still Smartbar services that exist:
If they do exist, open a command window, Start > Run > “cmd” (enter)... (make sure this window has administrative privileges) type: sc delete smartbarservice
sc delete smartbarhealthcheck (this service may or may not exist, the name of it in services.msc is the field that you want to type in the “sc delete <service name>” command.
(6) Remove c:\program files\wunderbar

If you want to maintain your current database and not need to import your DB Backup after installing the newest version, leave Apache and MySQL alone. Your DB and registration information should be maintained, this includes your registration key. This is a better approach so that you don't have to have your key renewed which can take multiple days.
OR

If you want to completely install a fresh copy of the newest version:
Under the command window (as discussed above), type:
(1) sc delete apache2.2
(2) sc delete mysql
Warning: Removal of the C:\mysql folder will delete your registration information. You will need to contact info@smartbar.eu
to renew your key.
Then, delete the folder c:\mysq l
Reboot (for good measure, restart Windows)
(8) Install latest software version and NET Framework 4.0 full aka. “extended”. Note: NET
Framework 4.0 is not required for Windows 8, as it is integrated already into the Operating
System.
If you use Windows XP or Windows 7:
Download “NET Framework 4.0.zip” from the Wunder-Bar download site.

extract this zip and run the executable.
 Once this is complete, you should see “Net Framework 4.0 Extended” listed under
“Add / Remove Programs” (Win XP) or “Programs and Features” (Win 7).
Run the latest full install package executable.
During the install choose “Full Installation”. (You should not be asked to enter your key if you left the C:\MySQL folder, MySQL service and Apache service alone).
Reboot upon completion.
You’re done.

(1) If you have 5.0.9 or later installed and want to update to 5.1.x and beyond, you require two files: executable and service
Wunderbar Skyflo 5.1.4 executable (or something similar, ie: 5.1.9 etc)
--When you download this file and extract it from the ZIP format, it will be listed as:
“wunderbar.exe” on your system
AND
Smartbarservice 0.5
(or something similar)
-When you download this file, it will be listed as: “SmartbarServiceSetup.msi”
(2) Go to:
Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (win xp)
OR
Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall (win 7)

Highlight “Smartbar Wireless Metering” and choose:
Change/remove (winxp)
OR
Uninstall (win7)
It may ask you if it can stop the Smartbar service during the uninstall, accept this.
(4) Prepare latest software version and Install NET Framework 4.0 full aka. “extended”
Download “NET Framework 4.0.zip” from the Wunder-Bar download site.

extract this zip and run the executable.
 Once this is complete, you should see “Net Framework 4.0 Extended” listed under
“Add / Remove Programs” (Win XP) or “Programs and Features” (Win 7).
Once this is complete, run the SmartbarServiceSetup.msi that you downloaded.

(5) Next, copy and paste the executable file, “wunderbar.exe” to: c:\program files\wunderbar\
If there is a message to overwrite/replace, you can allow this.
(6) You can now manually start the smartbar wireless metering service under the services control panel, (start > run > services.msc) or do a reboot of Windows.
You are done.
