Symposium Title: Wireless Communications, Networks and Systems Summary: With the steady recovery of the telecommunications industry sector, more 3G cellular mobile systems are being rolled out with increasing multimedia-oriented services and applications. More hotspots are planned and/or deployed leading to the proliferation of Wi-Fi wireless LANs. In addition, with the rapid emergence of WiMaX (IEEE 802.16), which provides wide area high speed access with the possibility of mobility support proves to be exciting and promising. In research laboratories, higher speed but shorter range radio systems such as Ultra Wideband (UWB) are under intense development, along with the concepts of pervasive computing and communications using wireless ad-hoc and sensor networks. The objective of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers and technologists to present new ideas and contributions in the form of technical papers, panel discussions as well as testbed implementations and real-world evaluation of many ideas in wireless communications. To ensure complete coverage of advances in wireless communication and networking technologies for the current and future systems, the wireless communications, networks and systems symposium seeks original contributions in, but not limited to, the following topical areas: List of Topics: The topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: - PCS, GPRS, EDGE, 3GPP, UMTS IMT2000 Bluetooth Technologies & Applications CDMA, TDMA, OFDM, air interfaces Error and Link Control Power Control Algorithms Interference Avoidance Multi-user Detection Spectrum Efficiency & Issues Handoff protocols & management Traffic Management Call admissions control Smart Antennas Mobile QoS Cell & Capacity Planning Wireless LANs Mobile IP Mobile Internet Wireless Capacity Network Topology Control Flow & Congestion Control TCP over Wireless Ad hoc wireless networks Mobile Ad Hoc Routing Wireless multicasting Wireless Service Discovery Location Management Techniques Satellite Communications 4G Mobile Network Architectures - Wireless Multimedia Multiple and wireless access techniques End-to-End QoS Mobility management Radio resource management Wireless switching and routing techniques Wireless services and applications Hyrbid wireless communication systems Wireless system optimization techniques DVB and DAB techniques Ultra-wideband communications Adaptive modulation Resource allocation and interference management Diversity techniques and equalization Modulation and coding Multirate and multicarrier communications Space-time processing Signal separation and interference rejection Detection and estimation Propagation and channel characterization DSP applications to wireless systems Fading countermeasures MIMO systems Space-time coding Sensor networks Sensor efficient protocols and algorithms WiMaX UWB For information on submitting papers and proposals for workshops, panels, and tutorials, please contact the TPC co-chairs: Dr. Sastri Kota Senior Scientist, Harris Corporation, USA skota@harris.com Prof. Shahrokh Valaee Department of ECE University of Toronto, Canada valaee@comm.utoronto.ca Dr. Boon Sain Yeo Networking Department Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore boonyeo@ieee.org Prof. Yi Qian Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Mayaguez, Puerto Rico 00681 yqian@ece.uprm.edu Technical Program Committee: Ravi Adve Dharma Agrawal Ramon Agusti Sonia Aissa Fatih Alagoz Nallanathan Arumugam Seema Bandyopadhyay Khaled Ben Letaief Antonio Capone Narcis Cardona Mainak Chatterjee Maggie Cheng Mung Chiang Carla-Fabiana Chiasserini Woon Hau Chin Enrique Crevas Jun-Hong Cui Sajal Das Jing Deng Xiaodai Dong Xiaojiang James Du Ashutoth Dutta Frank Fitzek Margarita Garcia Giovanni Giambene Babak Hassibi Nidhi Hegde Xiaoyan Hong Patrick Hosein Ekram Hossain Jiankun Hu Rose Q.
