01. The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)
of the IQAC
Introduction

Our college was established on 25 August 1969
under the managing committee appointed by the
educational trust–Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad
Gorakhpur,U.P. which was established in 1932.
Digvijai Nath Post Graduate College, Gorakhpur is
situated in the heart of the city on main road side of
the Civil Lines area. It is about 1.2 km from Gorakhpur
railway station and 1.0 km from roadways bus stations.
Principal
His Holiness Late Digvijai Nathji, Mahant of Gorakhnath
Temple, Gorakhpur was the founder of our college. He was the great pioneer of
educational renaissance in Eastern U.P. At present His Holiness Avedya Nath ji
( Ex- M.P.), Mahant of Gorakhnath Temple, Gorakhpur is the secretary/manager of
our college. Gorakhnath temple is situated in the north zone of the Gorakhpur city.
It is about 3.0 km. away from the college.
Dr. Maya Shankar Singh, selected by Higher Education Service
Commission, Allahabad took the charge of Principal from Dr. Yogendra Singh on
18 May, 2009.

02.1. PART A21 Measure and Key Points for College Action Plan (CAP) chalked
out by the IQAC in the beginning of the session 2008--09 towards
quality enhancement.
1.
Teachers must be encouraged to undertake minor research projects.
2.
Pre- University examination for the students of B.A. Classes will also be
undertaken to give experience of full fledged examination prior to the
University Examination.
3.
Alumni Association will be made more active. Records should be
maintained.
4.
To construct cemented road at main building.
5.
IQAC will pursue the management to enhance the salary of part time
teachers to a respectable level so that they should contribute their best to
the teaching profession.
6.
Cultural Activities should be arranged at college level. These events help
overall personality development of the students.
7.
There should be departmental library in bigger departments. Departmental
Library will be established in Science & Psychology Departments.
8.
Games and Sports activities require more attention. There should be a
Gymnasium Hall in the college.
9.
Improvement in Library: The Library has to be enriched by way of
procuring latest Standard Books, Reference Books as well as subject
related Journals. There should be cataloging system in library operation.
10. The Infrastructure of the College requires better furnishing.
1. Glass black boards will be fixed in place of old cemented black
boards.
2. A big committee room will be constructed to organise the meetings.
11. Drainage system of the college should be improved.
12. The college will develop ‘green lawn’ in Arts Campus in front of new
building.

13. The college should have cycle stands for boys and girls separately. There
should be separate entrance gates to avoid crowding and civic sense. The
middle cycle stand which exists in front of new building should be closed
for better front view.
14. Continuous Internal Evaluation: - To ensure effective learning, the college
should introduce continuous internal evaluation by way of regular
periodical written tests, teaching aids, charts & models, oral presentation
and assignment etc.
15. More Seminars should be organised in the college and UGC may be
approached for financial support.
16. Construction & Plastering of boundary will be undertaken. Iron grill will
be fixed above the boundary to protect the campus and to give the campus
beautiful look.

care of the increasing number of students.

1. Minor Research ProjectMany departments are very keen to bring about qualitative
improvement in the academic environment of the college. As a result Dr. Smt.
Sheela Singh from Psychology Department and Smt. Veena Gopal from
Political Science Department presented their Minor Research Projects to the
UGC. It is very happy to state that UGC has approved and sanctioned the
projects.

research work but Gorakhpur University had not permitted us to carry out
research work. On demand of 'Gorakhpur University Affiliated Colleges
Teachers Association (GUACTA) it has now permitted P.G. Colleges to
undertake research (Ph.D.) and Post Doctoral works independently.

2. Pre- University Examination & Evaluation (PUEE)Pre-University Examination and Evaluation, 2008-09 was conducted
in the college from January 02 to February 22, 2009 for B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. &
M.A. classes following the patterns adopted by Gorakhpur University for the
Annual Examination. After evaluation the result was placed on the notice board
for information of students. Later on a few classes were also held to solve the
difficulties which students faced in answering the questions.
3. Alumni Association –
Alumni Association will be made more active in 2009-10 and records
will be maintained.

4. Roads –
The c.c. roads of 153 meters length in the campus of Arts Building
has been constructed. The work on c.c. road at the main building of the college
is in progress.
5. SalaryThe management has raised the salary of teachers in self financed
courses during session 2008-09. IQAC is further pursuing the management to
raise the salary to meet the needs of the teachers and their families.
6. Cultural ActivitiesKeeping in view of the all round development of students and broadening
their outlook, expression and mental horizon along with academic activities,
many cocurricular activities were organised in this session.
1. Sant Ravidas Jayanti was clebrated in the College on 20 Faburary 2009
in B.Ed.Lecture Room. Dr.Naresh Chandra Gwari , Head B.Ed. and Sri Ram
Niwas Singh delivered lectures about the relievance of Sant Ravidasji.The
Students also participated in lectures.The winner students were awarded prizes.
2. National Flag Day was celebrated on 25 November , 2008. Rupees
three thousand two hundred ninety was collected by Teachers and Students on
this day and sent to National Foundation for Communal Harmony on
01.12.2008. Plantation was also undertaken on this day.
3. ‘Founder’s week’ and ‘Death Anniversary’ Functions :
Our staff members and all the students of the college gather and
participate in the 'Founder's Week' closing function on 10th December
every year. We also participate in the 'Death Anniversary Week' closing
function of Late Digvijai Nathji, Mahant of Gorakhnath Temple and
founder of trust Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, Gorakhpur and
founder of our college. This was celebrated this year on 18 September,
2008. In these functions all sister institutions participated and interacted
with one another.
4. Teacher`s Day was celebrated on 05 September,2008
5. A lecture competition was organized on ‘Swami Vivekanand’ on 12
January , 2009.

7. Departmental Library Departmental library has been established in B.Ed. & M.A.
departments. These are providing the students with the facility to read the books
in addition to those issued to them from the Central Library. Other departments
are heading to start departmental library .
8. GamesA plan has been chalked out regarding the expansion of facilities in
games and sports. As a step towards this direction a cemented Badminton Court
has been constructed at the campus of Main Building of the college.
1. North – East Zonal Chess Championship 2008-09 was organised in
Bodh Gaya from 07-12- 08 to 13-12-08 in which Km. Priya Ratnam, a
student of B.Sc I of Digvijai Nath P.G. College stood Champion.
2. Our College stood champion in 51th Sports Meet of D.D.U.Gorakhpur
University and Affiliated Colleges organised by D.D.U.Gorakhpur
University ( 13,14 November ,2008).
3. The annual sport of the college was organised on 11 – 12 January in
2008-09.
4. Our boys and Girls have secured positions in Interuniversity,Interstate
and National level sport meets ( Appendix- 11 ).
5. Our college stands first among all the affiliated colleges of D.D.U.
Gorakhpur University in the field of Games and Sports.
9. Improvement in LibraryThe Library administration is working on a new cataloging system.
New books of quality on each subject have been purchased. Research journals
have also been made available to faculties. The following research journals are
beaing procured in our library1- Asian Journal of Psychology and Education
2- Puratatva – Ancient History
3- Current Science
4- Indian Quarterly - Defence Studies
5- Strategic Digest - Defence Studies
6- The Indian Journal of Political Science
7- Annweshika - Education Dept.
Annual magazine ‘ Arawali was published and distributed to staff
members to awake all about the College.

10. Infrastructure Different departments of Arts Faculty have been transferred to new
constructed massive building. At present we have total 21 Lecturer Rooms at
Arts Building and 05 Lecturer Rooms at Main Building.
Four new class rooms have been decorated with fixed chairs and
tables. This year three halls - one Committee Hall and two Community Halls
are being construted.

Three Water Coolers with Water Filters have been purchased. Out
of which one at main Building and two at Arts Building have started
functioning.
(ii) Two Submersible Water Lifting Pumps one at the Main Building and
another at the Arts Building have been installed.
(iii) Six India Marka Hand Pumps - Two at main Building and Four at
Arts Building have been installed.
Now our college have ample facilities of pure drinking water.

11. Drainage systemDrainage system of the college has been improved. A new
Drainage channel has been constructed in front of Arts building in 2008-09.
12. Green CampusMain building has been developed as green campus . The College
will also develop green lawn at Arts Building .
13. Cycle Stands –
The big old cycle stand (size: 30.50 m x 30.20 m ) has been
developed by filling soil and bricks and then cementing it. The work on
Separate Boys and Girls cycle stand system is in progress.

(B) Interdisciplinary Programmes –
Interdisciplinary lectures were organised on different subjects by the
subject specialist from amongst the college teaching staff and also by the
resource persons from outside.
1. A lecture of Dr. (Smt.) Sheela Singh, Coordinator, Guidance &
Counselling Cell was organised in Science Faculty on 27 November,2008 for
Science Students to choose career and to face the interview in Government and
Private Sectors. She encouraged the students to know the criteria for selection,
fluency in English, dynamic and aggressive nature, ready to work anywhere in
India and Postive attitudes.

2. A guest lecture of Prof. R.P.Singh, Head of the Department of
environmental sciences, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow was
held on 17 December, 2008 in Science Faculty. He explained the challenges
caused by air pollution due to increase in level of green- house gases thereby
affecting water and foods. Due to damage in layer of ozone and global
warming we are facing much problems to servive in the world. The Science and
Technology together must work to devlope ourselves to fight the challenges
caused by pollution.
3. A discussion on the subject ‘ Manawaadhikar Aur Rashtriya Seva
Yojana ke Sanyojakon ki Bhoomika ‘ was organised in the College. The main
speaker on the subject Dr.D. N. Pandey , Reader , H.R.P.G. College,
Gorakhpur urged the students to fight against culprits and antisocial
elements in favour of a comman man.
4. On 02 February, 2009 Emeritus Scientist & Professor R.P.Rastogi,
Ex-Vice-Chancellor (B.H.U.) delivered a Lecture on the subject “Recent
Developments in Chemistry.” He urged the students to have the combined
knowledge of all the branches of Science to serve Humanity. The audience
included both the students (Boys & Girls) and the respected members of
teaching staff.
5. On 26 December, 2008 Dr. D.N. Pandey, N.S.S. Programme Officer
delivered a Lecture on the subject ‘ Role of N.S.S.students in Human Rights’
Dr.Smt.Veena Gopal also addressed audience.
(C) Women’s Sexual Harassment Redressal Cell (WSHRC) –
WSHRC has been established in the college to solve the problems
regarding woman students. The coordinator Dr. Smt. Usha Rani Rai, reader
B.Ed. Department and other members are solving the difficulties of woman
students efficiently. A meating of WSHRC was held on 5-12-2008 to meet the
grievances of a girl and to activate the cell. The committee consists of :

15. Guidance & Counselling CellOn the eve of 28th anniversary of Digvijai Nath P.G. College,
Gorakhpur, a meeting of Guidance & Counseling Cell (GCC) was held on 25
August, 2008. The coordinator of GCC is Dr. (Smt.) Sheela Singh, Reader in
Psychology of the college. This center helped the students to solve their
personal educational & emotional problems and thus the students came nearer
to the teachers. Under the guidance of Dr. (Smt.) Sheela Singh four students
of the college in 2007-08 and five students in 2008-09 have been selected for
job in Apex Laboratories Ltd., Chennai, a fast growing 30 years old company
(see page 21 ).
16. Website –
Our college has its own website (www.dnpg.org) on which the informations
regarding the college is available. The Post Accreditation Activities during
session 2007-08 have been updated on the college website. The history, IQAC
Activities and the development of our college can be seen on visiting the
website through internet. Format for Profile of College of D.D.U. Gorakhpur
University, Gorakhpur has been filled and sent to D.D.U. Gorakhpur
University, Gorakhpur to connect our website to website of D.D.U. Gorakhpur

17. Seminar The Hindi Department under convenership of Dr. (Smt.) Archana
Singh has very successfully conducted a National Seminar on 23-24 October
2008 on the subject ‘Ramcharit Manas men Adarsh Pariwar ki Parikalpna :
Vartman Sandrabh men.’ This is undoutedly a big step ahead towards the
academic standard of the college and creating a reflective and innovative
environment. Thanks to UGC for financial support .

A fast growing 30 years old Apex Laboratories Ltd. Chennai having a
turnover of multi crore a year and occupying nineth position in pharmaceutical
industries in India conducted a Campus Interview of B.Sc. final year students of
our college. Company held its interview in science faculty of our college on 01
December, 2008. The company selected four boys and one girl students which
elevates the standard of our college. We owe for this achievement to the
Accreditation of our college by NAAC.

Placement Letters were handed over to the students in a fuction
organised in the college by Emeritus Scientist & Professor R.P.Rastogi, ExVice-Chancellor (B.H.U.) on February 02, 2009.
ICICI held its interview for M.A. students of our college on 03 February,
2009 for the post of PGPMI . The company selected six students. Dr. (Smt.)
Geeta Dutt acted as Placement Manager .

21. Part Time Teachers The literacy rate in eastern U.P. is one of the lowest in the country due
to extreme poverty. Due to unavoidable circumstances the number of students
admitted is continuously increasing. The management has appointed
additional part time teachers to take due care of the increasing number of
students this year 2009 (Appendix-02 ).

Criteria wise Report
1. Activities Reflecting the Goals and Objective of the Institution
The academic session begins with the admission of students in
the month of July every year purely on the basis of marks secured in the
qualifying examination with due statutary provision for reservation to
OBC/SC/ST students (Appendix - 03 ).
The total number of permanent teaching staff is 33, non-teaching
staff is 40. The number of technical staff is 12. The number of teaching
staff under self-financing scheme is 24 and the number of non-teaching
staff under self-financing scheme is 24(Appendix– 04& 05).
The college was opened on 16 July, 2008. B.Sc. II and B.Sc. III
classes in 2008-09 were started on 22 July 2008. B.A. II & III classes
were started on 10 August, 2008. After completion of the first year
admissions, other classes started in third week of August. The number of
students admitted in the session 2008-09 was 4401 (Appendix - 03).
The Death Anniversary Week of the founder of the college His
Holiness Late Digvijai Nathji Maharaj is celebrated on third day of
Ashwin Krishna Paksh every year. This was celebrated on 18 September
in session 2008-09. The Founder's Week is celebrated with pomp and
show every year from 4th December to 10th December. Several prizes
and scholarships are given to deserving and meritorious students in every
walk of life by distinguished chief guest on 10th December the
concluding day (Appendix–16). The Guest of Honour on 10th December,
2008 was Prof. N.S.Gajabhiye ,the Vice Chancellor, D.D.U. Gorakhpur
University, Gorakhpur. The annual sport was organised on 11-12
January, 2009. We are proud to say that our students won maximum
prizes in University games & sports.

Our boys and girls have also secured positions in Interuniversity,
Interstate and National level sport meets.
About 65% of enrolled students appeared in Pre-University
Examinations, 2009 held at college on January 02 to February 22, 2009 for
B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. & M.A. classes. About 95% of enrolled students
appeared in annual university examination in session 2008-09.
The drop out percentage in the final year examination 2008-09
was 38. Annual results of the college are good. The final year pass-out
percentage of Science students is 91.03, Arts students is 94.70, B.Ed.
students is 100, B.A.Evening Classes is 96.79, B.Com.is 99.17 and M.A.
students in 97.50 in 2007-08 .
We have a good library with 27,961 books till 31 March 2009.
Total books worth Rs.95,981=00 have been purchased this year
(Appendix -07). For poor but meritorious students we lend books through
Book-Bank. We are working on Cataloging System in the library. The
working days of library during session 2008-09 were 265 whereas the
total number of college working days was 195.
A new massive building has been constructed during 2008-09 .
Various departments are being transferred in new building(Appendix-08).
153 Meter long road with concrete and cement have been constructed.
Five NSS units are run in the college under the five efficient and
dynamic teachers. The programme officers organise one day and 10 days
camps. Necessary programmes are undertaken by all members of NSS
(Appendix -09).
The total college income in 2007-08 was rupees 3,71,08,574 =77
and expenditure was 3,20,09,476 =00. Thus the balance left was rupees
50,99,098=77(Appendix - 10 ).

We are proud to say that many of our teachers extended their
participation in D.D.U. Gorakhpur University examinations in various
capacities such as convener of flying squad, members of evaluation
committee, members of counselling committee, member of examination
committee etc.
Various co-curricular activities viz.,welcome and farewell
parties, cultural activities, interdisciplinary guest lectures, campus
placement etc. were organised.
Preparation leave for the students was announced from 20
February, 2009.
All the activities were completed under the supervision of IQAC
established in the college. The dates of the meetings held by IQAC in session
2007-08 to undertake College Action Plan are as under.

2. New Academic Programmes Introduced –
1. We have applied for Physics, Maths & Computer Science courses in Science
Faculty which is pending at the state level.

2. Process of admissionThe students are invited to fill up the prescribed admission form
of the college. After the last date of submission ‘Admission Screening
Committee’ examine the application forms and prepare merit lists in
which the reservations for OBC/SC/ST are followed.

meets were awarded scholarship on 10th December closing ceremony of

17. Incentive to outstanding sports persons The college bears the expenses of the students taking part in different
university state and national meets. Kits, fares, DA and other expenses were
provided to those students (Appendix- 11 &12 ). The sport students were
given weightage in admission. These students were given the opportunity to
lead the different functions organised in the college.

19. Placement Services Provided to Students
A fast growing 26 years old Apex Laboratories Ltd. Chennai held
campus interview on 01 December, 2008 in science faculty for B.Sc. final year
students of our college. The company selected four boy and one girl students
( page 21 ). We owe for this achievement to the Accreditation of our college by
NAAC.

20. Healthy Practices of the institutions
1. Rastra Gaurav :
Gorakhpur University has introduced a course on ‘Rastra Gaurav’
to promote the past glory of our nation in the mind of budding students .
2. Recess/Assembly/Tutorial Period :
We have introduced Recess/Assembly/Tuitorial Period in our
Science, B.Ed., Arts, Commerce and P.G. Classes time tables. We are in
the process to introduce this programme in other self financed faculties
also.
3. IQAC Committee :
Internal Quality Assurance Cell headed by Dr. Bholendra Singh,
President of managing committee and His Holiness Yogi Adityanathji,
Joint Secretary of managing committee has been constituted to tone up
the functioning of Post Accreditation Activities and Development of the
college in accordance with the guidance of UGC-NAAC.
4. Yoga Centre :
Our students and teachers participate in Yoga Centres run by our
management at Gorakhnath Temple as well as at our college. Dr. U.P .
Singh, Reader in Geography of our college is trained in Yoga and gives
training to desired students and staff members. The tension, anxiety and
other related problems are removed and students/staff feel healthy,
fresh and smart. Sri Chandi Prasad Yadav helps Dr. U.P. Singh in this
work.

5.‘Founder’s week’ and ‘Death Anniversary’ Functions :
Staff members and all the students of the college gather and
participate in the 'Founder's Week' closing function on 10th December
every year and also in the 'Death Anniversary Week' closing function of
Late Digvijai Nathji, Mahant of Gorakhnath Temple and founder of
trust Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, Gorakhpur and founder of our
college. In these function all sister institutions participate and interact
each another.
6.Social Responsibilities and Citizenship RolesOur management has created a platform where various academic
and social practices are shared. A big library hall in the college and a
huge hall at Sri Gorakhnath Temple are the places of these health y
practices.
7. 'Fresher's Welcome Party', 'Student's Union Oath Ceremony'
and 'Farewell Party' were organised by students to strengthen the
brotherhood and interaction. We support and help them.
8. A Health Centre has been running under the supervision of an able
and efficient doctor Dr. V.K. Singh who looks after day to day health
problems and simple ailments. In case of emergency, students are sent
to civil hospital or medical college after giving first-aid and other
necessary support
9. Homage to Late Digvijai Nathji –
The staff and students of all 21 sister institutions and one
dozen affiliated institutions of Gorakhpur District run by M.P. Shiksha
Parishad, Gorakhpur gather at the Gorakhnath Temple Auditorium Hall
to pay Homage to Late Digvijai Nathji, Mahant of Gorakhnath temple
and founder of our college on Ashwin Krishna Tritiya every year.
10. N.S.S. Volunteers of our college were deputed to control the crowd
and help in maintaining law and order at ‘Makar-Sankranti Mela’ on
14th/15th January at Gorakhnath Temple, religious peeth of our college.
11. A community feast for more than 250 people was hosted by our
college on 10 th December, 2008.

12. Tea ClubDuring Recess/Tutorial/Assembly period of the Time-Table our
teachers organise 'tea-club'. During this period the teachers interact and
discuss a lot of things related to academic, social, cultural, mora l and
aesthetic spheres of life
21. Other Informations–
1. Two heavy generators one of 15 KV power and another of 25 KV
power has been installed at Science and Arts Faculty Buildings
respectively.
2. The procedure of purchase –
The procedure of the college to purchase major items is ‘through
quotations’. The requisition is made first. The requisition is sent to the
manager of the college for sanction and approval. After sanction, the
quotations are invited. Quotations and Comparative Charts are again
sent to the manager for approval. The order is now placed to purchase
the items on ‘lowest rate’ basis (Appendix- 13).
3. Professional Course in B.C.A
The College has requested to The Director of Higher Education , Directorate
of Higher Education U.P,.Allahabad to start “Professional Course in B.C.A.”
at Digvijai Nath P.G. College, Civil Lines, Gorakhpur – 273001. The Estimate
Proposal is Rs. thirty lakh (Annexure – 14 ).
4. Online Education
The College has requested to The Directorate of Higher Education
U.P,.Allahabad to start “ Web Combo- Online Education” at Digvijai Nath P. G.
College, Civil Lines, Gorakhpur . The Estimate Proposal is Rs. thirty lakh
(Annexure – 15 ).
5. Hostel Facilities –
In order to solve the difficulty of residential accomodation
of students we have two separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. We
provide well furnished and hygienic hostels at the affordable rate so
that students can pursue their studies.

For boys lodging and boarding facilities are available at 'Pratap
Ashram' Golghar, Gorakhpur whereas for girls these facilities are
available in M.P. Meerabai Mahila Chhatravas, Civil lines, Gorakhpur,
both situated in the campus of the college and are
managed by our trust Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, Gorakhpur .
In Pratap Ashram, there are 101 rooms available to students.
The students of all the constituent institutions get accommodation in
this hostel.
In M.P. Meerabai Mahila chhatravas, there are 41 rooms.
5. P.N.B.Bank –
A full fledged CBS branch of PNB is running at our college.
Soon, ATM will also be installed. The salary disbursement of
employees is done through this bank.

21 Measure and Key Points for College Action Plan (CAP) for
Session 2009-10
1. More teachers must be encouraged to undertake minor research projects.
2. Pre- University examination for the students of B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. and M.A.
Classes will be undertaken to give experience of full fledged examination prior to
the University Examination.
3. Alumni Association will be made more active. Records should be maintained.
4. Construction of c.c. road at main building.
5.. IQAC will pursue the management to enhance the salary of part time teachers
to a respectable level so that they can contribute their best to the college.
6. Cultural Activities should be arranged at college level. These events help overall
personality development of the students.
7. There should be departmental library in bigger departments. Departmental
Library will be established in Science & Psychology Departments.
8. Games and Sports activities require more attention. There should be a
Gymnasium Hall in the college.
9. Improvement in Library: The Library has to be enriched by way of procuring

13. The college should have cycle stands for boys and girls separately. There should
be separate entrance gates to avoid crowding and civic sense. The middle cycle
stand which exists in front of new building should be closed for better front
view.
14. Continuous Internal Evaluation: - To ensure effective learning, the college will
introduce continuous internal evaluation by way of regular periodical written
tests, tseaching aids, charts & models, oral presentation and assignment etc.
15. More Seminars will be organised in the college and UGC may be
approached for financial support.
16. Construction & Plastering of boundary will be undertaken. Iron grill will be
fixed above the boundary to protect the campus and to give the campus
beautiful look.
17. The office operations require more streamlining and complete
computerization.
18. New blocks will be constructed for B.Com and B.Ed. .
19. There should be centrally mounted voice arrangement system connecting
different blocks – Library building- Lecture Room No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7;

Extension Activities of the College NSS Units in session 2008-09
Our college has a rich tradition of promoting social consiousness among
rural illiterate people through NSS. We have five NSS units each consisting of
about 100 students, under the stewardship of five dynamic and able teachers as
programme officer.

In 2008-09 the camps of Meerabai Unit was organised at Meerabai Hostel,
Digvijai Nath P.G. College, Gorakhpur on 15 - 31 December, 2008 and
Gorakhnath Unit, Gautambuddha Unit & Subhas Units were organised at M.P.
Degree College, Jungle Dhoosan, Gorakhpur from 30 December,2008 to 05
January 2009.
The following works were undertaken by members of different units.
1.
Community Development :
(i)
Cleaning and disinfection of choked drains and repair of damaged
street and roads during ten days camp.
(ii) Undertook repairing and cleaning of roads and drains during ten days
camp.
2.
Social Work :
(i)
Anti-dowry Rally was undertaken through the streets and roads of the
town on 12 January, 2009.
(ii) To promote awareness about small savings, family planning,
population explosion and wall writings etc. were undertaken on a
massive scale.

3.
Health and Hygiene Awareness :
(i)
A family planning campaign was organised.
(ii) A rally was undertaken to make people conscious about AIDS on 12
January, 2009.
(iii) Active participation was ensured by volunteers in 'Pulse -Polio'
programmes during Yuva Week 12 - 19 January, 2009.
4.
Adult Education and Literacy :
To promote literacy specially 'Adult & Female Literacy', a rally was
organised during ten days camp and Yuva Week.
5.
Aids Awareness :
Awareness rally about the danger of AIDS was organised during ten days
camp and Yuva Week.
6.
Environmental Awareness :
(i)
Big rally against the danger of environmental pollution was
undertaken during ten days camp and Yuva Week.
(ii) To discourage the use of polythene and polythene products a rally was
undertaken during Yuva Week. During rally polythene and polythene
products were collected and burnt.
7.
Any other activity :
(i)
A clean and green campus programme was undertaken during one day
camp in the college.
(ii) Debate and Essay competitions were organised to commemorate the
Birth/Death anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and Swami
Vivekanand.
