Practice tests are accessed from the course menu in Blackboard. You may take them repeatedly as needed. The score you earn on your final attempt will be the one used as your grade. Note that real exams draw questions from the practice exams. Week 2: Digital Technology, Digital Life, and Operating Systems Lecture: We will discuss the more complicated topics from the chapters on Digital Technology and Digital Life, we will explore interesting related Web sites, and videos, and discuss the week's technology headlines. Recitation: Operating Systems and File Management. Students select either WIndows Vista, WIndows 7, or Mac OS X and view the associated video lessons in Emerge with Computers. Students must prove proficiency in at least one OS. Homework: o Participate in the Online discussion: Which digital technology has had the biggest impact (positive/negative) on your life? Why? o Choose an operating system, WIndows 7, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X, and work through the associated video lessons in Emerge. View both the Navigating and File Management videos. Practice the skill taught. o Prepare for next week's lecture by exploring the chapter on Hardware in Emerge with Computers and try the associated Practice Test. Week 3: Hardware and Personal Information Management Lecture: We will discuss the more complicated topics from the chapter on Hardware, we will explore interesting related Web sites, and videos, and discuss the week's technology headlines. Recitation: o EXAM: Operating Systems and FIle Management o Introduction to Personal Information Management, including working with Email, Contacts, Calendars, and To-do Lists.
