Online conveyor belt advisors The Conveyor Belt Group has developed an online customer advisor in the form of three web tools. The new service offerings include six-step installation instructions for steel cord conveyor belts. Another application briefs the user on nine causes of belt misalignment and gives instruction for 1/4 Your contact: Mario Töpfer, +49 511 938-1304 -2optimizing alignment. Both applications include animated video sequences and are available in nine languages. The ContiTech CareWell web tool provides an overview of the Conveyor Belt Group's service materials and visualizes their impact on a virtual conveyor. It reacts to the activation and deactivation of the components and visualizes the effects that the various service materials have on the system and the conveyor belt. Product information is available using a zoom function. Users can access the three web tools via the online advisor at www.contitech.de/cbgadviser. In addition, the MiningCalculator computer program available from Mining Technology Consulting in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany, enables mining companies to calculate and compare future load and transport combinations for specific mining projects. They can then identify the best combination of truck or conveyor belt haulage from both an economic and environmental standpoint. Designing bearing systems The vibration specialist ContiTech Vibration Control has developed an app to measure vibrations and simplify the designing of elastic bearings. Customers can use the mobile application ViProtect as a backup to professional technology used to analyze vibrations on a variety of systems in industry. The app suggests options for a suitable bearing system based on the mass of the system, the number of bearing points, and the excitation frequency. Users also receive technical data on the selected bearing elements and can request more information using the contact form. If the excitation frequency is unknown, it can be calculated with the app before designing the system. The app runs on the operating system iOS 7. Measuring belt tension by smartphone A practical tool for on-site use: With the Tension2Go app, users can employ their smartphones to quickly verify the correct pretensioning of industrial belts from the ContiTech Power Transmission Group – whether it be a case of initial installation, a maintenance job or fault diagnostic. The app is a cost-efficient supplement to existing pretension measuring devices and is available for the operating systems iOS 6-7 and Android 2.2 through 4.3. The app measures the natural frequency of the belt. The user holds the smartphone microphone above the exposed belt section and sets 2/4 Your contact: Mario Töpfer, +49 511 938-1304 -3the belt into vibration to allow for measurement of the airborne noise. On the basis of the frequency value determined, it is then possible to select the right pretensioning force. For the belt to run properly, it is crucial that the belt tension be correct. Compounds from the database In an online database at phoenix-compounding.eu, customers can find out more about the physical properties, specifications, and vulcanization properties of ContiTech compounds. If a customer cannot find the compound required among the 700 different formulas, it is possible to send the compounders an explicit request for implementation of the compound needed. ContiTech Compounding Technology has enormous process know-how and can produce natural and synthetic rubber compounds not only in black, but in yellow, green, white, red, or beige, too. ContiTech is constantly expanding its digital service offering. Apps with detailed information on drive components or commercial vehicle air suspension add to the range of services in the automotive after-sales market.
