Walton Youth Project Job Description Job title: Healthy Families Fit for Life Support Worker Grade: JNC point up to point 11 - (21hrs) Appointment: The worker will be employed by the Management Committee of WYP. Line Management: The worker will be responsible to the Walton Youth Project Manager For Whom Responsible: The worker will be responsible for the support and direction of staff and volunteers. Job Summary: To provide a community based family learning, to recruit families to engage and support them into the learning process and offer a programme of health activities to foster positive family relationships. Work with Families a) To work directly with families, particularly fathers and deliver family learning programmes. b) To co –ordinate the Walton Families Matter group leading to the delivery of volunteer training programme. c) To promote work with families which encourages active participation in the local democratic process and involves them in wider community initiatives and issues affecting their lives. d) To signpost and support parents into education, training and employment opportunities. e) To plan and facilitate healthy and celebratory events, residentials’ and activity days f) Showcase families achievements in year 4 Work with staff and other agencies a) To liaise and communicate with other relevant services locally and nationally and within the community. b) To be responsible for monitoring information relevant to the post. c) To participate in the Walton Youth Project staff team meetings. d) To supervise staff and volunteers within the Healthy Families –Fit for Life Project. Development of Service Provision a) To participate in Walton Youth Project’s in house staff training programme. b) To help produce and maintain an audit of provision for families in the area and to help develop action research initiatives which inform policy makers about new service developments for families. c) To help sustain project through funding initiatives. d) To assist in the set up and facilitate the running of a HFFL Steering Group made up of community members. e) To assist in formative evaluations, including a full report and toolkit to be disseminated across networks. Administration a) To produce bi-monthly reports and help produce other reports as appropriate including an annual report. b) To contribute to the collection of data for funders. c) To keep recordings and provide written reports on specific projects. d) To contribute to an annual evaluation of the work to ensure its effectiveness and relevance to families. a) Workers are encouraged to participate in supervision as part of their professional development. b) Workers are encouraged to participate in in- house opportunities and to offer their own skills in training. c) Workers are encourage to become involved in wider support networks that they may feel appropriate to their and the projects development. Approach The worker will spend the majority of time in face to face work. The workers may deal with uncomfortable and uncompromising issues and on occasions make professional decisions without immediate support.
