These include: - Readings from a text - Lectures about Political, Human, Cultural, and Physical Geography topics - Visual presentations including slides and videos - Exercises related to the text and lecture materials - Quizzes about readings in the text and lectures - Internet research - map work - Project at the end of the semester There is not adequate time to discuss all the materials you read in the text. You need to keep up with reading the chapters. Approximately 90% of quiz material is from text. EXAMINATIONS AND GRADING 6 QUIZZES 15 EXERCISES 10 VIDEO PPTS 4 REGIONAL TRIPS 1 FINAL PROJECT (50 PTS E (10 PTS EA) (10 PTS EA) (25 PTS EA) (100 PTS) 300 150 100 100 100 750 POSSIBLE POINTS 10 REGIONAL MAPS (EXTRA CREDIT) GRADING IS BASED: A=92% B=86% C= 78% D=70% STUDENT EXPECTATIONS -You are expected to attend each class. -IF YOU MISS MORE THAN TWO CLASSES, DO NOT EXPECT TO PASS THE COURSE -Materials not in your text are presented each week. -Review the weekly activities and printouts on the website -You need to print out exercise questions for the week from the website. -Quizzes are available from the website and are due the next Monday at start of class. -In class exercises are due that day -IF YOU MISS EXERCISES….DO NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM UP LATER -Exercises and Quizzes turned in or picked up late will earn fewer points. -Video and Trip PPTs are due one week after watching the video or after talking about the Region (but before the next region class/video). -Put videos and Trips in WEBSITE drop box. (Last Name_Topic) -Study Maps are on the website and are used the day of the quiz is taken home for that region -If a snow day is declared, any map quiz scheduled will be given on the next class meeting. -Any quiz due on a snow day will be turned in the next class meeting -Students absent for good cause will be able to turn in assignments or take quizzes late. Good cause is evaluated on an individual basis by the instructor.
