Tentative Course Schedule
Please Be Sure To Bring Both Your Textbook And A Notebook To Class Every Day.
The preparation noted in this schedule is not all that is expected. Be sure to see the Reading Topics and
Questions handout for items you should informally prepare for class.
All plays are included in Bevington. All Summaries and other handouts will be available on Blackboard
(Bb).
Other than final drafts of Major Projects and Minor Projects, all work is to be submitted via Bb.
Week 1
Wednesday, September 3: Introduction to Shakespeare
No reading required for the first day of class.
Friday, September 5: Approaching Shakespeare Read Bevington’s Introduction.
Read Comedy of Errors Summary and Passages TBA.
Bring to class a list of five in-library not-so-obvious resources for studying Shakespeare.
List on Blackboard five on-line resources for studying Shakespeare. (These should be actual resources, not
just web pages that have lots of links to other web pages that have lots of links to other pages.) Annotate
each entry for what is valuable at that site.
Week 2
Monday, September 8: Re-read Bevington’s Introduction.
Taming of the Shrew: Read Acts I-II
As with all of the plays we read, you are advised to read the summary as you progress through the play.
