1. THE “9 D’OCTUBRE” SECTION
This section of the river is used for outdoor sports, including BMX, keep fit,
weight training and Agorespace (mini basketball) amongst others.
A bike ride in this section of the river is a real adventure for smaller
children and a great test of skill for adults: the climbs, slopes, drops and
gravity-defying gradients in the area have been designed with bicyclelovers in mind.

2. THE “ROVELLA” SECTION
This section contains a football field, two multi-discipline tracks and a
long track for joggers. It is one of the most popular areas of the river and
is in use all year round. The jogging track is equipped with weight training
and stretching exercise apparatus. This section is the ideal location for
everyday people, for whom sport is a way of life, to play their favourite
sports.

3. THE “CAMPANAR” SECTION
This area is home to Valencia’s professional athletics track on which top
class Spanish and European championships are held. The track, which is
one of Valencia’s most prestigious sports facilities, is used by almost all of
Valencia’s professional athletes for their daily training sessions.
The facilities include stands which seat up to 1500 spectators and a
warm-up area for the athletes. The area’s two multi-discipline tracks,
have recently been laid with artificial grass and are used by the
Valencian Region Hockey Federation for its training sessions and
championships. This section is also used for five-a-side football activities.

4. THE “LA PECHINA” SPORTS AND CULTURAL CENTRE
Valencia’s former municipal slaughterhouse has been converted into a
cultural-sports complex, thus providing the city with a new, modern sports
centre open to all.
12 different sports as well as a range of cultural activities will be available
at the La Pechina Sports and Cultural Complex.

5. THE “ADEMUZ” SECTION
This section of the river is dedicated to one of the most traditional,
popular sports played in Valencia: pétanque. The small, sandy areas the
game is played on are hidden among the lush vegetation in the area.
Additionally, the Ademuz section plays host to the “Ciudad de Valencia”
Cross Country Championships, a national event that brings thousands of
athletes together.
The generous shade provided by the abundant vegetation makes this
area a favourite with Valencian runners and cyclists.

6. THE “LAS ARTES” SECTION
The “Las Artes” section of the river is home to two top-class rugby
pitches. As rugby is becoming increasingly popular, the facilities have
been divided and an exclusive area has been created for clubs and
schools. There is also a professional rugby pitch in this area.

7. THE “SAN JOSÉ” SECTION
This section is host to the city’s only baseball-softball pitch, which is used
for training sessions and official games. The area also has 5 football fields
and 1 skating rink.

8. THE “EL REAL” SECTION
The football field that lies along the right-bank wall of this extensively
landscaped section serves as a training ground for the Unión Deportiva
Levante football club.

9. THE “LA EXPOSICIÓN” SECTION
This is an open esplanade occasionally used for hot-air ballooning. The
area is also ideal for jogging, skating and cycling. Mestalla Stadium,
which is the shrine of Valencian football, is also nearby.
10. THE “EL ÁNGEL CUSTODIO” SECTION
This section of the river is home to an enormous representation of
Jonathan Swift’s hero, Gulliver, and provides endless entertainment for
the younger ones. The surrounding areas include sports for the young
and the not so young, such as skateboarding, mini-golf, a skating rink,
pétanque and an enormous chessboard.

11. THE FOOTBALL MUSEUM
The International Football Federation has chosen the area surrounding
the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias (the City of Arts and Sciences)
as the future site of the “Football Hall of Fame” i.e. the new FIFA Museum.
This unique museum will have many interactive activities and will thus
provide a cultural, educational and sporting backdrop for this area.
The 5000-plus square metre site that has been set aside for the project
will serve as the location for an emblematic project that is sure to
become a point of reference for world football in the heart of Valencia.
12. THE NAZARET SPORTS PARK
Nazaret Park offers a wide range of sports facilities. It is currently being
extended to include a short, open-air swimming pool, an open-air
swimming pool for learners, a short, indoor swimming pool, a rugby pitch
(convertible into 4, 7-a-side-football pitches), a speed-skating rink, an
indoor sports track, a sports hall, weightlifting, weight-training and keep
fit rooms, an artificial wall for rock climbing, a games room and a
reading room/library.
The 42,000-plus square metre leisure and sports facilities will provide users
with the opportunity to play and learn 30 different leisure and
competition sports. The centre, which will have a capacity of 600
users/hour.
