The Story of Creation
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was barren, with no form of life; it was under a roaring ocean covered with
darkness. But the Spirit of God was moving over the water.

On the 1st day God said, "I command light to shine!" And light started shining. 4God
looked at the light and saw that it was good. He separated light from darkness 5and
named the light "Day" and the darkness "Night." *
2nd Day
On the 2nd day God said, "I command a dome to separate the water above it from the
water below it." 7And that's what happened. God made the dome 8and named it "Sky." *
3rd day
On the 3rd day God said, "I command the water under the sky to come together in one
place, so there will be dry ground." And that's what happened. 10God named the dry
ground "Land," and he named the water "Ocean." God looked at what he had done and
saw that it was good.
3rd Day
Then God said, "I command the earth to produce all kinds of plants, including fruit trees
and grain." And that's what happened. 12The earth produced all kinds of vegetation. God
looked at what he had done, and it was good. *
4th Day
On the 4th Day, God said let there be lights up in the sky…a brilliant warm sun, a cool
white moon at night & millions & millions of stars. God saw it, & it was good. *
5th Day
Then God said, let the water teem with fish & all kinds of sea creatures, let ‘s have flocks
of birds fill the skies & fly over all the earth…And so it happened just as God said & He
saw that it was good…& that was Day 5. *
6th Day
By now God was getting really excited & said, let creatures great & small cover the earth,
from mini-beasts to great big elephants, all sorts of shapes, every size & colour…& guess
what, they were good too!
6th Day
Also on that 6th Day, God said, lets make men & women – let’s make them in our image,
the image of God & make them care & love & create & serve all that has been made.
And God looked at everything & saw it was very good! *
Day 7
On the 7th day God stopped creating things & just spent time enjoying the wonder &
goodness of His world.
God blessed the seventh day and made it special because on that day he rested from his
work. *
