The End of the Age The Commonly Accepted Scriptural Age of the Earth In the 17th century, James Ussher formulated a chronology of the bible that placed the creation of heaven and Earth at 4004 BC. His arrival at that date was due to a literal reading of the genealogies and other dates found in what is referred to by christianity as the Old Testament. Other researchers arrived at nearly the same date that Ussher did. Scaliger's research indicated 3949 BC, Johannes Keppler's research indicated 3992 BC, and Sir Isaac Newton's indicated 4000 BC. All these knowledgeable men (and there are many others) coming into such close agreement bear witness that the bible points to the date 4000 BC, plus or minus 25 years or so, as the date of the creation of the human (pronounced aw-dawm in Hebrew). The creation of the human at approximately 4,000 years BC added to the current date 2011 AD yields a total time span of approximately 6,000 years since the creation of mankind. The 6 + 1 Theme Found in Scripture: A common theme found in YaHuWaH 's word is that of six days labor followed by one day of rest. It is revealed in the account of the creation in Genesis when Elohim created for six days and rested on the seventh day. One of YaHuWaH 's Ten Commandments, given to Israel and all those who would join themselves unto Israel, was to rest from servile labor on the seventh day. By resting from servile labor on the seventh day from week to week, man continually gives witness to YaHuWaH being the creator of heaven and Earth and every living creature. Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of YaHuWaH thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days YaHuWaH made heaven and Earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore YaHuWaH blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Another period revealing the 6 plus 1 relationship is found in instructions from YaHuWaH to His people. The land was to be planted and harvested for 6 years and then was to be allowed to rest the 7th year. 1 Leviticus 25:3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; 4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for YaHuWaH : thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. There was not only a sabbath every 7 days for man, there was a sabbath every 7 years for the land. In a way both sabbaths were for the land, because man was created from the dust of the Earth. Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Man's 'dust of the Earth' was to rest for a day every seventh day, and the Earth's land was to rest for a year every seven years. Summary: The 6 + 1 theme established by YaHuWaH for man and the Earth: 1. Six days Elohim created and rested the seventh day. 2. The commandment for six days of labor and a seventh day for rest for man is ordered by YaHuWaH . 3. Six years of sowing and harvesting and a seventh year rest is ordered by YaHuWaH for the land. The 6,000 Years and the 6 + 1 Theme Examined 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with YaHuWaH as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. According to 2 Peter 3:8 the 6,000 year period since the creation of Earth and it's life forms may viewed by YaHuWaH as 6 literal days. Combining what we know about the scriptural age of the Earth (6,000 years) with the knowledge of the 6 + 1 theme established in scripture, we are aware that YaHuWaH may have a 1,000 year period of rest ordained for the Earth and mankind approximately around this present year of 2011 AD (6,011 years after creation). 2 A 1,000 year period is indeed mentioned in scripture. The Messiah is to rule the Earth for a thousand years: Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of YAHUSHUA, and for the word of YaHuWaH , and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Messiah a thousand years. Summary If James Ussher's and Sir Isaac Newton's reckonings are correct, we are currently entering the sabbatical 7th millenium from creation. If we divide the 1,000 year day into 24 parts (hours) and then divide the hours into half hours, we find that a period of 20.83 years (1/2 hour) is about the length of time from sunset to total darkness in the 1,000 year 'day'. Using James Ussher's calculations: 4,004 BC + 6,000 years = ..1997 AD sunset 4,004 BC + 6,000 years + 20.83 years = ..2018 AD total darkness Using Sir Isaac Newton's calculations: 4,000 BC + 6,000 years = ..2001 AD 4,000 BC + 6,000 years + 20.83 years = ..2022 AD Using Johannes Keppler's calculations: 3,992 BC + 6,000 years = ..2009 AD 3,992 BC + 6,000 years + 20.83 years = ..2030 AD Using Scalinger's calculations: 3,949 BC + 6,000 years = ..2052 AD 3,949 BC + 6,000 years + 20.83 years = ..2073 AD If the day begins at sundown, is there scriptural evidence that YaHuWaH was active after sundown on the seventh day of creation? The answer is, yes. The Hebrew indicates that Elohim "He is finishing" His work in the seventh day, "He is ceasing in the seventh day". 3 Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day Elohim ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. Genesis 2:2 above indicates that Elohim may get things in order at the beginning of the seventh day and then rest. YaHuWaH keeps His sabbaths. They are His appointed times. We're living on His Earth, in His universe, and we will rest at His command one way or the other, alive or dead. The geneaology sequences found in scripture signal our arrival at the end of the age. The information provided here indicates an immediate need for our repentance, watchfulness, and preparedness. This information also indicates that we are seeing the end of the age unfold before us in the daily news. Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. 4
