Creative Work Disclosure UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER – CONFIDENTIAL This form should be completed and submitted to Department of Research and Innovation (R&I) if you believe you have developed a Creative Work which is capable of commercialisation. The purpose of this form is to enable R&I to evaluate whether legal protection to the Creative Work will be sought and/or commercialization pursued. A Creative Work may attract legal protection under UK copyright, design or trade mark law. Copyright arises automatically and can be used to protect any original works such as original literary works (tables or compilations, computer software programs and databases), dramatic works (dance or mime), musical works (music exclusive of any words or actions ) and artistic work (graphic works, photographs, sculptures, collages irrespective of artistic quality, works of architecture and works of artistic craftsmanship), sound recordings, films, broadcasts and typographical arrangement of published editions. In addition, design products can be protected by design rights for the appearance of the product and trade mark rights allow you to protect creative works such as names, logos, advertising jingles, slogans, shape of goods or packaging.
