If you have any questions please see Mr. Panagopoulos in guidance PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) Interested in seeking OSSD credit for prior knowledge and skills acquired outside of your TDSB education? PLAR is a challenge process for assessing and evaluating your prior learning to determine whether you meet provincial curriculum expectations in a specific course, for which you may be eligible to receive the credit towards your diploma. All interested students and parents/guardians must attend a mandatory information/orientation session on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Earl Haig Secondary School. The challenge process will be clarified and curriculum specialists will answer questions. There is a letter available in the Main Office as well as the Guidance Office with details outlining the process. Registration is from 6:00pm to 6:30pm and the presentation is from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING Guelph Scholarship Students applying to the University of Guelph with a 90% average should consider applying for the Guelph Chancellor and President scholarships. These $34,000 awards are available to all applicants who meet the criteria and submit their applications online no later than January 25th. Fifty scholarships are awarded each year, with half of those being worth $80,000 and the other half worth $60,000. Each school can nominate one student for this scholarship. If you are interested in applying to be our school nominee, submit a document to Mr. Low that lists your top 3 achievements (academic or other) and a letter of reference. They are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate's commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.
