Technology Education
Technology Education is the study of our “Designed World”. By that we mean the things in our environment that have been
created by people that allow humans to be more productive by extending their capabilities and satisfying specific needs and
wants. Examples of such as surgical tools, electronic fuel injection, web-based information systems, and new drugs are the
result The Design and Problem Solving Process. This problem solving process is the core of every technology education
course. Courses in Technology Education will allow students to better understand how to live and work with technology and as
a result, increase their level of technological literacy.
Introduction to Web Design
Using a variety of Macromedia software, students will apply concepts to conceive and design websites for a variety of purposes.
This half year course will introduce students to the concepts of using graphic images to communicate information, ideas, sell
products, or influence public opinion through the development of websites. In addition, this course will also highlight the
social, legal, ethical, cultural, political and educational impact of the Internet. This is a project-based course where students will
create appropriate designs, create websites, and evaluate the ability of a designed website to communicate a message.
(Software used for this course as introduced will be Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash. Software will be subject
to yearly review and evaluation.)
