MK LAND SIGNED DEAL WITH PALETTE MULTIMEDIA TO DEVELOP “eLIFESTYLE TOWNSHIP”
(October 2, Kuala Lumpur) MK Land Berhad, a leading property developer in Malaysia signs a
multi-million dollar deal with Palette Multimedia Bhd to develop the “e-lifestyle township”. The
multi-year agreement includes Palette to provide the management and operation of this highspeed network and also the provision of contents and applications. With the development of “elifestyle township”, MK Land is looking beyond the traditional brick and mortar, leading the
property development in Malaysia into a new era, building townships with information and
communication technology (ICT) infrastructure enabling residents to live a true e-lifestyles in this
technology savvy generation.
This major initiative and the new model of property development taken by MK Land will mark a
significant step in the history of property development. This will help to accelerate the
deployment of high-speed Internet access and public wireless hotspots in the country,
accelerating the realization of Vision 2020.
The “e-lifestyle township”, Damansara Perdana, a development project of MK Land, is designed
with Gigabit Intranet backbone connecting each block of building together, creating e-lifestyle
community. The entire network is also designed to be wireless ready. Residential condominiums
are broadband equipped and wireless broadband enable. Public areas such as shopping mall,
swimming pool sides, conference hall, and barbecue area will have public wireless access.
Sitting on an area of 750 acres of land, Damansara Perdana is a high class residential area with
full facilities located approximately 8Km from the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur. Damansara
Perdana is in an excellent location in one of the most exclusive suburbs in the Klang Valley. As
one of the biggest developments in Petaling Jaya, this township is serviced by the DamansaraPuchong Highway (LDP), the North Klang Valley Exchange (NKVE) plus the Sprint Highway
(through the Penchala Link, which is scheduled for completion in 2004. This will provide direct
connection to Mont Kiara and Sri Hartamas). All this adds up to easy accessibility to and from all

Internet games, Digital Video On Demand (DVOD), and other broadband applications. There are
two dedicated Network Operating Centers built within the township to host the contents such that
contents are resided locally and accessible over the high speed LAN. This advance network
infrastructure will enable delivery of broadband contents and applications to every home, shop,
office and even public areas through wireless access.
E-commerce within the community of Damansara Perdana is now possible with each household
connected to each business in the township. Residents can now order goods or food in any of the
e-commerce portal sites that the business has developed. Delivery can be made easily and
quickly since they are all within the same community. There is little concern of Internet ecommerce fraud as each household or business in the township is clearly identified and securely
authenticated.
This is the first town in the region that is equipped with Yellowspots wireless broadband access
that is capable of roaming globally. Apart from having wireless broadband Internet access in
Damansara Perdana, residents will also be able to have wireless access in any of the Yellowspots
hotspots locations world wide with the single user id and password with Yellowspots Global
Roaming technology. Currently, there are more than a few hundred locations in over 20 countries
including 150 hotels are Yellowspots wireless hotspots enabled.
The Yellowspots technology is qualified for the access of the any notebooks designed with latest
Intel Centrino technology. This is the first township in the country that is qualified by Intel
Centrino Wireless Qualification Program. With this qualification, users can have a very secured
VPN tunnel established from the Yellowspots locations to their servers in the corporate office or
data center. Business people who are always on the move will be able to have a secured wireless
high speed Internet access in any of the wireless hotspot areas in the town.
