All such documentation, including the translations, must be officially authorised by the pertinent authorities (see back for details). RECTOR of the UNIVERSITY OF GIRONA ADMISSION TO DOCTORATE COURSES FOR STUDENTS WITH NON-HOMOLOGATED, NON-SPANISH DEGREE QUALIFICATIONS Students in possession of a graduate degree or equivalent obtained from a university or higher education centre from outside Spain who wish to take a doctorate degree course at the University of Girona may be admitted to any Doctoral Programme related to their university record. To be admitted to the doctorate degree course, those students with non-homologated, non-Spanish degree qualifications must present an application for admission addressed to the rector of the university. The department or institute responsible for the Doctoral Programme shall accept this application within the dates established for the pre-inscription phase of the doctorate, together with the following documentation: Copy of passport Personal academic record from the university in question Copy of the certificate of the degree or equivalent qualification. If these documents are not written in any of the official languages of Spain, they must be translated by one of the following: Any Spanish diplomatic representative or consulate outside of Spain. The diplomatic representative or consulate within Spain of the country the applicant is a citizen of, or, if such be the case, from the country where the document was issued. An official translator duly authorised or inscribed within Spain. All of this documentation (translations included) must be legalised by the pertinent authorities. The procedures for legalising the documents to be enclosed vary according to the country in which the degree or equivalent course was taken. 1. Member countries of the European Union and those countries who signed the European Economic Area Agreement (see Table I). Documents issued in these countries do not need to be legalised. 2. Countries that have subscribed to the Hague convention (see Table II). The documents must include the Hague apostille authentication certificate, issued by the competent authorities in the country of origin. 3. Countries that have subscribed to the Andrés Bello Convention (see Table III). If the country is also a signee of the Hague Convention, then the procedure established there should be followed, as it is easier. Otherwise, the documents will have to be legalised by diplomatic means, in which case they must be presented to: a) The Ministry of Education in the country of origin, for titles and study certificates. b) The Spanish diplomatic representation or Spanish consulate within the country in question. 4. Other countries. The documents will have to be legalised by diplomatic means, in which case they must be presented to: a) The Ministry of Education in the country of origin, for titles and study certificates, and the relevant Ministry for birth certificates and nationality certificates. b) The Foreign Affairs Ministry of the country in which the documents were issued. c) The Spanish diplomatic representation or Spanish consulate within the country in question. The rector shall decide each case. The applicant may not matriculate until a favourable reply to the application has been received. Admission to the Doctoral Programme does not imply homologation of the degree qualifications or equivalent and does not authorise the student to exercise a profession within Spain.
