NOMINATION ACCEPTANCE FORM
1) The nominee attests that he/she meets the eligibility criteria established in Canon XXIII:
Eligibility for being elected as the Bishop Ordinary (General Synod Canon XXIII, para 2)
A person is eligible for election as the Bishop Ordinary if that person
(a) is of the full age of thirty years and less than seventy years of age;
(b) is a priest or bishop in Holy Orders of The Anglican Church of Canada, or of a church in full communion therewith;
(c) is faithful in the doctrines and discipline of The Anglican Church of Canada as determined and defined by the official formularies of
that church;
(d) is known and recognized as being a person of integrity and moral stature;
(e) has those qualities and abilities of leadership, experience and learning that will enable that person to fulfil the duties of a chief pastor in
the Church of God; and
(f) acknowledges that the Bishop Ordinary must achieve and maintain the citizenship, language, security clearance and other requirements
of the Canadian Forces.
2) The nominee recognises that should he/she be elected that before the consecration, the Bishop-elect, if a
military serving member, shall have taken his or her release from the Canadian Armed Forces, and be free to
assume the duties and responsibilities of Bishop Ordinary to the Armed forces and civilian member of the
Interfaith Committee on Canadian Military Chaplaincy (ICCMC). (General Synod Canon XXIII, Explanatory
Notes, and AMO Canon IV, para 30)
3) The nominee recognises that the requirements of the Office of Bishop Ordinary necessitate that it be the sole
employment of the incumbent though, at present, it is remunerated at a part-time rate of salary.
4) The nominee agrees to provide current CV, such documents verifying eligibility as may be required, and
prepared responses to questions furnished by the Search Committee in order to assist in the Electoral College’s
process of discernment.
