use in classrooms where bed bugs may have been found. It will also cover IPM procedures to
help control weeds, rodents, and other pests on school grounds and landscaping. The workshop


In October, IKE gave a presentation through the Northwest Indiana Educational Services Center

state laws. There are 9 regional educational service centers and they hope to take this workshop
to all of them.

IPM workshops in Pennsylvania : In Pittsburgh and one in Eastern Penn (has not occurred yet).
New Hampshire:
 Exeter - Work that was directly related/funded by PRIA 2008 money is finished - but activity is
on-going which is good. The final evaluation took place last month. A teacher/staff in-service
training went well. District is now working on an IPM policy and would like to offer IPM awards
for key school staff and facility manager. Lynn will contact Sherry Glick about the possibility of
an award plaque.
Rhode Island:
 RI demonstration at Chariho - Lynn Braband submitted written protocols for implementing IPM
in school. He met with custodians on November 3rd to discuss protocols.
Vermont:
 Vermont demonstration - New demonstration is going well. An elementary school has been
selected for the specific demonstration project. Lynn Braband submitted protocols for
implementing IPM to the school and he met with school officials November 4th to discuss them.
Connecticut:
 Discussions are ongoing in the state for starting a demonstration or coalition project. A team of
four individuals submitted a proposal to the NEWG to set up a school IPM coalition consisting of
stakeholders including Dept. of Education and Extension. This would not be a peer to peer
coalition. They are awaiting feedback from Lynn Braband and Kathy Murray to see if this meets
grant obligations for coalition work.
Other NEWG Updates:
 Other coalition potentials - There is interest in West Virginia and New York for coalition work
but nothing has developed yet.
 K-12 IPM curriculum education project wrapping up in 2011. This project made great strides
towards educating the next generation on IPM.

the same capacity between this November through January under a similar contract with
working group grant partnership monies returned from Cornell to NEWG. He will be involved at
3/4 time. Kathy will take lead on applying for upcoming NEWG partnership grants for next year.
The partnership grant is due November 22nd. FYI-One coalition group last year received
partnership funding.
3. SRWG:
