Holy Spirit Church Centralia, Missouri December 25, 2015 The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day) In today’s Christmas Mass at dawn we hear from the Gospel reading that God has entered quietly into the world. Not into the great City of Jerusalem, but into a small village about five miles south. Not into a noble family, but to an outcast couple keeping the newborn in a manager. Not announced by royal edicts, but to common shepherds, the first human heralds of Christ’s birth. As Christian stewards we simply allow Christ to live in us no matter what our circumstances happen to be. We allow Christ to share his love with us and reflect that love out to others. We now are the heralds of Christ’s Incarnation. What an unimaginable gift from a generous Lord. Good stewards rejoice in this gift and give glory to God. We would like to welcome all visitors and new members to our Parish today. Registration papers are on the bulletin board. Psalm 80:15-16 Remember those that have asked for our prayers: Father Offutt, Ruth Godding, Glenda & Joe Castrop, Don Brooks, Bill Miller, Carol Dailing, Shirley Sudbrock, Father Judge, Mike Holsinger, Diane Sander Shoemaker, Angela Weithman, Margo Romine, Annette Fashing, Jennie Ryan, Bob Diemeke, Catherine Ripperger, Maxine Stinocher, Frances Hummel, Judy Stringer, and those out of work. Also remember those serving in the military: Ray Finlay, Nathaniel Katz, and Jacob Schlemmer Christmas 2015 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May the peace of this Christmas season be with all of you! One of the traditional images of Christmas that readily comes to our minds is the star, shining brightly above the manger where Jesus was laid. The thought of light dispelling the darkness brings a sense of happiness. We only need to drive around on Christmas Eve and see houses lit up in colorful displays to realize how light has a way of lifting our spirits. Christ Jesus came into our world to be the light of the human race, as the beginning of John’s Gospel proclaims. No matter what the coming year may bring, it is my hope that each of us may find comfort in knowing that the light of God’s Love shines in our hearts. With my best wishes for a joyous and Merry Christmas, I am Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend John R.Gaydos, Bishop of Jefferson City Foundation of Faith: As the end of the year quickly approaches the committee members of Foundations of Faith would like to remind you it is not too late to turn in a pledge card.
