
Sr Unix Administrator,
Supported several major application upgrades, including high availability remote
site failover, web conversion, a card processor conversion. Implemented SunOne
Web Servers to support the web conversion. In the process of implementing HP
Openview for server monitoring, and Autosys job scheduling.

Sr Unix Administrator,GE Corporate Payment Services
Working with Solaris & Sun servers that support a financial (credit card) data
environment. Responsible for server setup and configuration in a multi site, multi
tiered client/server environment containing 18 local and 15 remote servers, 3
High Availibility Veritas clusters and over 2 TB of disk capacity. In process of
implementing a new backup architecture & strategy for site. Working on a
software defect tracking (Quality Greenbelt) project.

Sr Unix Developer,GE Capital Card Services, CorpCard
Working with Perl, Java and HTML to convert financial (credit card) data into form
for internally developed client/server and Web applications. With Perl worked on
modules that used DBI and CGI functions. Used Sun's JDK 1.3, Oracle 7.3,
Sybase 11 and Solaris 2.6. Provided Server specifications and purchase rationale
for two new servers for our working environment.
April 1998 – May 2000 Consulting

Consulting Analyst, Software Synergy, Inc.
Worked with HP-UX on HP-9000 K-class servers, providing support for an inhouse developed application used for sales and marketing data query and
reporting for a national food manufacturer. Assisted with application conversion
and upgrades. Improved performance on daily (reduced process time by more
than 50%) and monthly update process (reduced by over 30%). Improved
reliability by automated scripting with safeguards to ensure completion without
operator intervention. Worked with 3rd party POS data collection from Gelco and
AC Nielsen. Worked with C, linked list sorting, PowerBuilder, Shell Scripts, Oracle
7.3, SQL-Plus, HP/UX, MS-Office with Excel Macros, Win95, Win98, RAS.

Webmaster, Co-editor, Evanston-Eversull Lodge #695, F&AM
Working with a non-profit fraternal organization, produced monthly newsletter
using MS-Publisher, as a co-editor. As WebMaster, designed, implemented,
maintained and promoted the organization via their official web site to over 50
search engines, several web rings and registered the site with SafeSurf, and
RSAC. Worked MS-Word, Notepad, vi, several graphics image editors, IE5,
Netscape 4.7 and HTMLv4. This work is ongoing as an indefinite volunteer
engagement.

System Support Analyst, Software Synergy, Inc.
Worked with Solaris in a Sun E10000 environment for a leading world publisher
and information provider, working within their development & pre-production and
certification environments. Supported their system build & software promotion
process using nmake, RogueWave, C++ and Lucent Sablime. Performed load
testing using Load Runner.

Sr Unix System Administrator/Project Manager, Software Synergy, Inc.
Worked with HP-UX on the HP-9000/E55, Solaris on a wide variety of servers
ranging from a Sun SPARC 5 to the Enterprise 6500, AIX on RS/6000-F50.
Worked with Oracle, Solstice Disksuite converting to Veritas Volume Manager
with over 500 GB of IBM SSA Disk attached to all three server environments in a
Storage Area Network (SAN). Provided assistance to specify & upgrade servers,
operating systems, patches, implemented a backup and recovery plan for the
Y2K environment's Unix servers and configured servers using Legato Networker
with NT, HP, IBM & Sun systems for a large insurance company. Provided



1988-1992 Programmer/Analyst, Syncor International Corp
Developed, planned & implemented downsizing plan to convert from TI990 to PCs
running SCO Unix. Designed and implemented embedded C routines for M/F Cobol
to perform detailed calculations & process forms into a database for data collection.
Interfaced HP COBOL programs for EDI forms to work with third party billing &
invoicing programs used by outside service providers and vendors. Provided user
documentation & training during the roll out of the new systems. Wrote context
sensitive SGML Hypertext (HTML) help system used within their Cobol
Applications.
1986-1988 Programmer, Electronic Management Systems
Programmed cash registers, implemented a data transfer process to automate
part of employee meal deduction system that interfaced with an IRMA board to
Mainframe payroll system. Setup, installed & trained personnel on their
computerized POS Systems running on PCs that communicated to back office
Xenix/Unix systems. Customized reports & queries using Informix and Unify
databases. Worked with products that ran on PDP-11 and VAX.
1984-1986 Co-op, Several companies including college
Worked with VAX, pdp-11, PC’s from many vendors, WANG, IBM 4361.
Managed the campus computer labs and provided tutorial assistance in a
classroom setting. Performed backups of 4361 system. Wrote software to read
and score Scantron tests, wrote a 8085 cross assembler and debugging
environment to run on a VAX, wrote Y2K compliant date routines for C, COBOL
and Pascal still in use by several companies worked for since college.
