Calling all Men. Special Edition will be holding auditions for 4-5 male students that might be interested in being a part of
the Special Edition choral ensemble. This ensemble sings for multiple events in the community throughout the school
year. They will also be singing for IHSA contest, Mallards Hockey Games and various other performance in the Quad City
Area. Please see Mr. Holmes to set up an audition time and remember, you do not have to be a member of the choir to
audition for this slot.
Attention Students: Would you like to participate in a fun filled volleyball tournament? Now is your chance!
On November 3,4 and 5th you can participate during your 8th period. Make your teams today! Teams will participate in a
tournament fashion and championship game will be played on Wednesday November 5th ....Registration due on Friday.
Registration cost is $15.00 per team. Please fill out forms in the office and return with cash to Mrs. Nightingale mailbox.

Help support the food drive by participating in Quad Volleyball this Thursday and Friday. There will be teams of 6. You
must be eligible and students in a SH only. It will cost $2 to play and $1 to watch. Contact Ms. Fiedler with your team
information.
Congratulations to the members of the 2014-2015 National Honor Society Orion chapter. The list is posted outside the
office and outside Mrs. Kershaw's room. We will have our first mandatory meeting Thursday morning. Senior members
need to arrive at 7:25; junior members need to arrive at 7:30. BE ON TIME. We will decide what our holiday service
project will be, nominate officers, and discuss the requirements for continuing membership. All members should also bring
their $10 dues to the meeting. Questions? See Mrs. Kershaw.
No Shave November? December. Mr. Briney will finally enter the fundraising fray. If we raise $25 he will do No Shave
November. For another $25, he'll keep it through the end of the semester. Proceeds to go to the food drive and HPA's
Honor Flight campaign.
The finals of the Mario Kart Tournament will be on Tuesday, Oct. 28th after school in Mr. Lister's room. The finals of the
Smash Bros. Tournament have been moved to after school on Friday, Oct. 31st. Anyone that wants to come cheer on the
competition will need to pay $1 or bring two cans. All donations go to the Student Hunger Drive.
Orion High School will present "A Broadway Cabaret", on Nov. 1st at 7:30pm and Nov. 2nd at 2:30pm in the Orion High
School commons. The OHS Drama department will be putting on an evening of songs, scenes and desserts. This
performance will feature multiple soloists, monologues, Broadway duets and short scenes. Cost for the event will be
$5.00 for Students and $8.00 for adults. Deserts and drinks will also be sold, with all proceeds going to the production of
the 2015 spring musical "Once Upon a Mattress". Please join as for a evening that is sure to deliver!
TRIVIA NIGHT: Is November 7th at 6:30. Contact Mr. Solomonson to set up a table at 526-3361 or at
jsolomonson@orionschools.us. Tables of 8, $10 per person. You can also reserve a table from either an FFA, FCCLA or
CECO student. There will be door prizes and raffles as well.

The Hunger Drive 5th period lunch competition is underway. The 5th period class that brings the most pounds per student will win a
Subway or Pizza Hut lunch. Food most needed includes: canned vegetables, fruits, juice, tuna, canned meats, soups, stews and pork
and beans. The Foodbank will not accept perishable items, pet food, soda, or bulk items greater than 10 pounds. Our school is allowed
1000 lbs of flour and sugar combined.
Fccla will be selling a Breakfast to Go every Wednesday morning! Bring your quarters!! Most items will be 75 cents.
PTA reflections program is currently open . Students may participate in 6 fields: Dance choreography, film production,
literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students may enter in one or more art category. The

2015 Ge-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. College scholarships are available to high school seniors who embody

Main Street Orion is looking for 3 high school students to help with the Halloween Hustle on October 31 right after
school from3:30 to 4:30. We need the students to help the kids go from business to business Trick or Treating safely. If

27th or email director@mainstreetorion.com. You will need to meet at the Orion Firehouse and Roxanne Chapman will

Main Street Orion is having a pumpkin carving contest for the entire community. We know that there are many creative
students at OHS and would encourage you, a group of your friends or classmates to submit pumpkins. Please bring
carved pumpkins to the Main Street Office between 9:30 and 4:30 on October 29th. Prizes will be awarded at the Band
Shell on October 31rst at 7:15. Pumpkins will be in local businesses to be judged by the community by voting with their
money. We want to create a whole stage of lit pumpkins during Trick or Treat.
