Salary Range: $12.50 per hour

Criteria for Candidates:

 Must be 18 years of age.

 A college Degree in Education

 New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Birth-2

Two years of experience working with children and a background in education is preferred.

The ability to effectively communicate with pre-schoolers as well as parents is required.

 Current CPR/AED and First Aide certifications are preferred.

 This position requires a mature, responsible, dependable individual who is both energetic and enthusiastic.

Position Description:

The Ken Ton Family YMCA is currently looking for Preschool Teachers and Substitutes for the

Universal Preschool Program with a passion for the YMCA mission and cause whose everyday priorities are a reflection of the core YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. UPK Teachers are responsible for the development and/or implementation of classroom curriculum and lesson plans for the Universal Pre-K Program on an as needed basis.

In addition, Teachers will work closely with classrooms aides and the children in the program to maintain classroom management, learning and social interaction.

Training Requirements

Successfully complete New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention training and

Bloodborne Pathogen trainings before beginning work in the assigned location.

Essential Functions

1. Implements the curriculum, as well as New York State Department of Education, YMCA and

School District standards.

2.

Responsible to meet or exceed program enrollment targets.

3.

Assists the Preschool Director with administrative tasks.

4.

Be Alert, Friendly and Responsive to children, parents and co-workers.

5.

Provides a safe environment for activities.

6.

Enforces safety rules and report/treat any injuries.

7.

Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

8.

Carries out other duties as assigned
