B/C Championships - The Colony
Coach Brandon
COR went into B/C Champs with the goals of getting best times and finishing in the top 5. We
went above and beyond expectations, proving once again that COR will be a team to reckon with
in the present and future. COR finished 3rd, just a few points behind 2nd Place North Texas
Nadadores, but ahead of teams like Plano, Frisco, Dallas Mustangs and Metro. Our B/C
swimmers are our team's building block and our future could not be more bright!
Displaying their "girl power", Christelle Buisson, Erin Mok and Stella Todd showed why they
are among the best (and toughest) 7 year olds in Texas with big drops, great technique and a
couple of BB times! Christelle became full BB as she picked up her 3rd BB time in the 100IM.
Stella also got her first BB time in the 100IM and also got BB in her 100 Backstroke. Joining
Christelle and Stella with new BB times, Reese Delfeld led off the 10&U Girls A Medley Relay
with a BB time in the 50 Back. She also added to her collection with a BB Time in the 100 Free.
Not to be out-done, Kayla Fender nabbed her first ever BB time in the 50 Back! Alexandra
Breazeale won the 100 backstroke picking up a new 11-12 BB time in the process. As a whole,
our girls saw significant drops in time, while also improving on their technique with very few
disqualifications.
On the Boys side, Vince Paculba led the way for COR getting 100% best times, but also 100%
BB times! Vince had an outstanding summer and worked as hard as anyone on the team, to
achieve his goals. Nicholas Buisson also picked up a couple of BB times in the 200 Free and
500 Free, coming very close to BB times in several other events. Jake Hoodenpyle bounced
back from a few weeks off this summer to have big drops in time, edging closer to his BB's. The
10 & Under Boys were led by Trey Dickey who saw significant drops in time and picked up
new BB cuts in the 100 Fly and 200 IM. Harris Durham also had a nice meet as he added
another BB time in the 50 Back. Piranhas, Kevin Mai and Bradley True had an outstanding
meet as both boys dropped several seconds in each event and raced really well. The Huynh
brothers, Benjamin and Jonathan, also had a good showing with great improvement in
technique and drops in time.
COR will continue to build from B/C Champs as we move into our Short Course Season!

TAGS
COR Swimmers give their personal take on TAGS! ….
(The swimmers were asked to send in a quote about TAGS – I love these!)
Chris Brown, 12: “TAGS is something you should be proud of. Even if you’re only on the relay, you
still get a chance to represent your team. You have to tell yourself you’re one of the fastest swimmers in
Texas.
Lauren Halliburton, 12: “At TAGS you get to swim at amazing pools and it feels great knowing you
are racing against the top swimmers in Texas and its really fun! And if you final or not you still come
back for finals and cheer for your teammates. Its REALLY FUN!!!
Lorece Harris, 11: “Well, what I thought about TAGS was that it was fun! I loved the relay more than
anything, because it was all about having fun and team spirit. Individual swims are fun too because that
is a race where your time qualifies for you and no one else . It is also fun to hang out with your team
and be at the parade. That’s all I have to say about that.”
Winston Hewes, 11: “To achieve a TAGS cut is awesome. To final at TAGS since the competition level
is so tough is a testament to our swimmers and coaches.”
Daryl Lewis, 13: “TAGS is really fun, hard, and it’s cool because you get more one on one time with the
coaches. Whoo!! GO TAGS!! GO COR!”
Blake Maczka, 13: “ TAGS is a chance for fast swimmers to get even faster.”
Annette, 12 and Mendez Family: “ TAGS for us is to see the team move forward and the progress made
by our children. And what pride it is to go and cheer for our children and team. Special thanks to the
parents that organized the events and the coaches for training and taking care of the team. We got to meet
new Friends and Families. Many of the things we do, we planned them around TAGS.”
Hayden Steed, 12: “I really liked having relays at TAGS, where my teammates and I could work
together. I enjoy competing with swimmers from all over Texas, and you get to meet great friends.”
Lainey Vaughn, 11: “It was loud and fun, especially the parade. It made me feel really fast.”
Congratulations TAGS Swimmers!!! Nice job Racing & showing off all of your hard work.

Championship Meet were Caleb Crowe, 13 and Hayden Steed, 12. We are proud of both of these

Southern Zones Championship
‘Zones’
Caleb Crowe, 13
Southern Zones Championship, or Zones for short, is a high level meet where the top eight
swimmers in each age division from each region are allowed to attend. This year, Zones was held in
Cary, North Carolina. My friend Hayden (Steed) and I had the opportunity to take part in this meet.
Hayden and I have attended Zones the past two years, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Zones is more than just a meet; it is a chance to bond with other swimmers from other clubs, and a chance
to compete with your new-found friends. You are representing North Texas, not your specific club, and I
think that is one of the reasons Zones is so much more exciting than a regular meet.
Another reason that I believe Zones is so special is because it is such an elite meet. Throughout
the two years I have been there, I have witnessed 4 national age group records become broken. The
competition is beyond anything you are able to experience in Texas alone. It is an opportunity to compete
against high leveled age group swimmers throughout the nation.
Lastly, Zones is so special because of the coaches. At Zones, you receive advice from outstanding
coaches, who have never witnessed your stroke before. Because of this, they can analyze your stroke in
completely different ways from your regular coaches, and make you a better swimmer.
If you get the opportunity to attend Zones, please don’t hesitate. It is the experience of a lifetime,
and it is worth all the hard work and effort it takes to qualify
‘Zones’
Hayden Steed, 12
Zones was, and is, totally cool. I love getting to fly on an airplane and staying in a hotel with my
North Texas teammates. I like getting to meet new people and try new things. It has taught me to be
responsible and take care of myself. I have enjoyed meeting and working with other coaches from North
Texas, it is nice to have them cheer for me when we are back swimming in Texas too!
This year I made the finals in the 400 meter free, it was awesome having the whole North Texas
Team cheering for me at finals. The medal that I won at Zones is the medal that I am most proud of from
all of my swims so far!!!
Trading Zones T-shirts, caps and other gear is a tradition and a blast, you meet swimmers from all
over the South. My favorite trade this year was acquiring the "Georgia Gun Show" T-shirt.
(Gun meaning Bi-Ceps, get it HAHA!)

Sectionals
Blake Maczka, 14
Sectionals has been an extremely challenging and rewarding experience for me this
summer, and it has helped encourage me to set new greater goals and work hard to achieve them.
Sectionals this summer took place in the Woodlands with hundreds of swimmers from
Texas and Louisiana over the course of a 5 day meet at Conroe ISD natatorium (a very nice pool
I might add). I went to Sectionals only a couple of days after I got home from another Texas
championship meet, TAGS, which is where I finally picked up my first Sectionals Times! Both
of these meets have very fast qualifying times that require a lot of hard work and dedication to
achieve, and more than anything going to every single practice and giving it your all every day.
One of the things that I did differently this season that I really think helped me to get these cuts is
that at the beginning of the season I set some very specific and tough goals with the help of my
coach. This is something you can do to motivate yourself all season long and guide you to where
you want to be in swimming at the end of every season!
This was my first time going to Sectionals and I won’t lie I was very nervous, but I knew
that I had already put all the hard work in. It was time to put it all aside and just do my best in
every race. Walking into that pool motivated me to swim faster and work harder. One of the best
things about going to Sectionals was being able to watch some extremely fast swimmers do their
best and get Nationals and Olympic Trials cuts! It was a little intimidating at first but then you
come to realize that they were right where you are at one point. They just stuck with it and
worked hard to make it to the whole next level, and that it’s the same at all levels of swimming!
All in all Sectionals was a very fun, fast, and exciting meet and I hope more COR swimmers will
be motivated to work hard and get their cuts to make COR a big and competitive Sectionals
team!
(Editors: Note – Blake,14 and his teammates, Caleb Crowe, 13, Adam Bull, 17 and Jaziel
Saucedo, 17 qualified for this long course meet and will attend short course, 2012.)
Nationals and Junior Nationals
Adam Bull, 17 breaks COR 17-18 and Senior 400 IM Team Record
Palo Alto, California, the home to the University of Stanford Avery Aquatic Center, was
the site for this summer’s Conocophillips USA Swimming Nationals and Speedo Junior National
Championship. The best swimmers in the country gathered to race at this beautiful outdoor
venue. Juniors, the fastest 18 & Under swimmers in the US, and Nationals that doesn’t have a
ceiling is the most prestigious National competition for USA Swimming.
Adam Bull, 17 headed to Palo Alto to swim the 200 IM and 1500 (mile) at Nationals and
Adam swam 8 events at Juniors, the 200 fly, 1500, 800, 400 and 200 frees, 400 IM, and 200
back. Adam’s hard work paid off with impressive drops and finishes in every event.
Adam finished 23rd in the 800 free, 32nd in the 400 IM, just 2 seconds off the Olympic
Trial cut. Adam also broke the COR 17-18 and Senior 400 IM Team record held from 1986!
Adam’s 400 free brought him closer to trials as well. 10 days of racing the best. Adam was
competitive strong and raced to win. His distance events caught the eye of all of US and we are
proud to of you Adam. Way to bring a little Texas heat to Palo Alto. Great Job Adam.

Registration
We are developing on-line registration. You will be able to go to the website www.corswim.org and fill
out paperwork. We will let you know when/if it is up and running. (Note: USS forms – below.)
Please note: The USS registration fee for 2012 is now $63.00. $15.00 goes to North Texas Swimming,
Inc. and $58.00 goes directly to USA Swimming. COR does not keep this money. Every swimmer will
receive their new 2012 registration form on their first day. Please verify the information, sign and leave it
with the coach. Thank you.
COR Policies and Procedures
This year there are a few changes in our Policies and Procedures. Please review the paperwork.
Monthly and Quarterly Billing
Beginning September 1, 2011, we encourage families to pay all fees through our online billing system in
Team Unify. (Team Unify operates our website). Fees can be paid by Credit Card or ACH. There will
be a surcharge for those who wish to pay for fees/dues by check. Monthly billing will incur a $10.00
surcharge for checks written, and Quarterly billing will incur a $25.00 surcharge for checks written.
Checks can be mailed to our PO Box, and must be received by the 1st of each month. Please include your
invoice. Any checks received after the 10th will have a $25.00 late fee charge to their next invoice.
Please note … the surcharge is a convenience fee. We are one of the few teams that accepts checks and
the time to process and collect is very time consuming. I want to strongly encourage credit cards and
bank drafts.
Meet Entry Billing
All meet entry fees will be reflected in your invoice each month. If you have chosen to pay quarterly, you
may still have a monthly charge on your invoice if your swimmer has signed up to participate in a swim
meet or team event. For example, a quarterly payment will be paid on March 1st, if your swimmer has
signed up for a meet after March 1, the meet entry fees will be invoiced and charged on April 1.
Please note: you will not be billed a meet escrow account in September. You will be billed monthly for
all the meets that your child has entered. Note: once the meet is sent to the meet host, the money will be
deducted. If for some reason you do not attend the meet that you have signed up for … COR will not be
able to refund or change the amount. We send a check to the host teams as soon as the entry has been
sent. Thank you.
One more billing note: Also, one more note regarding billing. Please note that if you sign up for an
event (meet, party) and you are not able to make the event. You still must pay the fee. COR pays the
money in advance. This is not an issue for credit or bank drafts. It is for people who pay checks. So if
you are paying by check, you will need to turn in your check prior to the event. Thank you.
